During the First World War, the legitimacy of established polities was challenged everywhere in Europe. Not only the combatant great powers but also smaller states witnessed a resurgence of constitutional disputes and competing ideological conceptualizations of revolution and reform, the will of the people, democracy, and parliamentarism. While these controversies primarily focused on the future of the national polities concerned, historical experiences and discourses accelerated by the war and the Russian Revolution were transnationally interconnected and contributed to discursive transfers between political cultures. The articles in this special issue, entitled Reform and Revolution in Scandinavia, 1917–1919: Entangled Histories and Visions of the Future, deal with the political turmoil in Scandinavia in the late 1910s, accelerated by the First World War and the revolutions in Russia in February/March and October/November 1917 and eventually in Germany in the autumn of 1918. Their special focus is on the political debates about reform and revolution and the related visions of the future of political order and social structures in national contexts and across borders. The articles examine how actors with different agendas in different contexts exploited the opportunities opened up by a window of change. …

Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) have been proven as excellent Earth-abundant electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acidic, neutral and alkaline media. Further improvements can be achieved by increasing their electrical conductivity, but scarce attention has been paid to quantify the electroactive sites of the electrocatalyst when this enhancement occurs. In this work, we have studied how the chemical design influences the specific density of electroactive sites in different Au-PBA nanostructures. W artykule przedstawiony został stan techniczny dróg lądowych i rzecznych, mostów, grobli oraz pozostałej infrastruktury komunikacyjnej w Polsce na podstawie relacji podróżników z zagranicy, w tym Rosjan. Stan oraz jakość lądowych i rzecznych środków transportu był oceniany przez cudzoziemców bardzo nisko, podobnie jak jakość usług oferowanych w przydrożnych karczmach w Polsce i na Litwie. W rezultacie podróżowanie w XVIII w. po Rzeczypospolitej mogło stanowić interesujące doświadczenie. Abstract This comparative reading of two conceptual corpora, Russian formalism and Germano-Austrian or Germanic formalism, begins with the idea that the European formalism presents a coherent unit. The continuity of this program authorizes such a comparative reading. The comparative analysis of formalisms in Europe could be a research program aimed at an epistemological reading of the phenomenon of European formalism at the turn of the 20th century. Durant el període de crisi creativa que sofreix a finals del s. XIX, Narcís Oller es dedica a la traducció. Una de les obres que tradueix és Un llibre trist, un recull factici de tres textos de Lev Tolstoi. L'estudi comparatiu de la traducció i recepció d'aquestes obres a Europa, revela que Oller utilitzà dues fonts intermèdies franceses per traduir un dels textos, La mort d'Ivan Ilitx, i una sola font per als altres dos, Tres morts i La mort al camp de batalla. Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest kategoria pogranicza ukraińsko-rosyjskiego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Autonomicznej Republiki Krymu. Istotne jest ukazanie pogranicza w różnych kontekstach i ujęciach, dlatego w pierwszej części artykułu odniesiono się do wydarzeń, jakie rozgrywały się na terytorium Ukrainy na końcu 2013 roku i w pierwszych miesiącach 2014 roku.
