This work consists of an overview part and three research papers. The subject of this work is a class of models for dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking, and new generations of fermionic matter. An introductory overview of the standard model of electroweak interactions is given, as well as an overview of some of the recent developments in the field of walking technicolor models. Vaasan kaupungin varhaiskasvatuksessa on vuodesta 2016 toteutettu Kieliystävät-toimintaa. Kieliystävät-toiminnassa maistellaan lapsiryhmän kotikieliä arjen tilanteissa. Toimintaa ohjaa varhaiskasvatuksen henkilöstö omassa lapsiryhmässään. Kieliystävät-toiminta alkoi opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön myöntämällä hankerahoituksella pilottitoimintana. Os, Sr, Nd, Pb and O isotopes and trace element data are reported for basaltic andesite and andesite whole rocks and, in part, for selected mineral separates from the Jurassic Ferrar flood basalt province. Radiogenic Sr (> 0.709), unradiogenic Nd (εNd= −3 to −5), and radiogenic Pb isotopes, as well as low Nb/La ratios of 0.4 – 0.6 and Nb/La ratios between 0.45 and 0.6 are found for all rocks including our most primitive sample (Mg# = 71.9). This indicates involvement of either continental crust or enriched lithospheric mantle in magma genesis. 187Re/188Os correlates strongly with 187Os/188Os, with an age of 172 ± 5 Ma, in agreement with published Arsingle bondAr data. The consideration of the friendship crisis occurring between adult men is based on two contemporary French plays: Pour un oui ou pour un non by Nathalie Sarraute (1982) and Art by Yasmina Reza (1994). In both cases, the reason for breaking off the friendly relation was a spontaneous reaction of one friend who judged, hurt and humiliated the other. This proved the first persons will to dominate the other and to subordinate him. All attempts of negotiation failed. The two plays’ texts have been com pared with the ideas of sociologists and philosophers describing hum an relations in the contemporary world, such as Zygmunt Bauman, Edgar Morin and Pierre Bourdieu.

B–T phase diagram of Pd/Fe/Ir(111) computed with parallel tempering Monte Carlo

We use an atomistic spin model derived from density functional theory calculations for the ultra-thin film Pd/Fe/Ir(111) to show that temperature induces coexisting non-zero skyrmion and antiskyrmion densities. We apply the parallel tempering Monte Carlo method in order to reliably compute thermodynamical quantities and the B-T phase diagram in the presence of frustrated exchange interactions. We evaluate the critical temperatures using the topological susceptibility. We show that the critical temperatures depend on the magnetic field in contrast to previous work. Characterizing and Quantifying Frustration in Quantum Many-Body Systems

We present a general scheme for the study of frustration in quantum systems. We introduce a universal measure of frustration for arbitrary quantum systems and we relate it to a class of entanglement monotones via an exact inequality. If all the (pure) ground states of a given Hamiltonian saturate the inequality, then the system is said to be inequality saturating. We introduce sufficient conditions for a quantum spin system to be inequality saturating and confirm them with extensive numerical tests.
