Sykepleiers erfaringer og oppfatninger om samarbeid med tolk i sykehushverdag : En kvalitativ studie om sykepleieres erfaringer og oppfatninger om br…

Masteroppgave helsefag ME507 - Universitetet i Agder 2016 Background: When foreign language patients are hospitalized and unable to communicate, the nurses are dependent on working with interpreters. There is little knowledge about the experiences nurses have had when working with an interpreter. Aim and objectives: The purpose of this thesis is to gain insight into the experiences and perceptions nurses have about working with an interpreter. The study focuses on cooperation with the use of interpreters from a nursing perspective and answers the following question: What experiences do nurses have with the use of interpreters for foreign language patients who are hospitalized? Method: Six q…
Determination of mercury by cold‐vapour technique in several tissues of treated American red crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)
1988
Abstract Adult intermolt specimens of American red crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) collected from Lake Albufera (Valencia, Spain), were exposed to mercury during 96 h. The Hg‐concentrations used were 50, 100, and 250 μg Hg/1 as Cl2Hg. The content of mercury in muscle, midgut gland, antennal glands and gills was investigated. Determinations of mercury were made by cold‐vapour technique and AAS. The mercury levels in all examinated tissues increased significantly (ANOVA test, p < 0.01) with increasing Hg‐concentration in the water.
Arābu skatījums uz krusta karu kustību
2020
Sovereign debt spreads in EMU: The time-varying role of fundamentals and market distrust
2017
Abstract This paper provides further analysis on the determinants of sovereign debt spreads for peripheral Eurozone countries since the start of EMU, paying special attention to episodes that characterized the global financial crisis aftermath starting in 2007. More specifically, the purpose of our research is to disentangle the role of fundamental variables and market perception about variations on risk in order to explain the evolution of sovereign spreads in EMU during the recent crisis. Our results, in line with previous literature, show the importance of three groups of observable variables, namely, changes in risk-aversion of creditors, fiscal indebtedness and liquidity variables. In …
Tyrosinases from crustaceans form hexamers
2002
Tyrosinases, which are widely distributed among animals, plants and fungi, are involved in many biologically essential functions, including pigmentation, sclerotization, primary immune response and host defence. In the present study, we present a structural and physicochemical characterization of two new tyrosinases from the crustaceans Palinurus elephas (European spiny lobster) and Astacus leptodactylus (freshwater crayfish). In vivo, the purified crustacean tyrosinases occur as hexamers composed of one subunit type with a molecular mass of approx. 71kDa. The tyrosinase hexamers appear to be similar to the haemocyanins, based on electron microscopy. Thus a careful purification protocol was…
How Mafia Works: An Analysis of the Extortion Racket System
2014
In this document, we present an analysis of quali-quantitative data on Extortion Rackets in Sicily. The second section provides an introduction to the interpretative framework on Extortion Racket Systems (ERSs). Therefore, the third section takes into account the methodological issues in the collection and analysis of data on extortions. The fourth and five sections offer an analysis on the types of extortion and the correspondent behaviour of the victims, followed by a focus on the process of extortion. An overview of the case-studies analysis on mafia-type organizations ends the document.
Daphnia females adjust sex allocation in response to current sex ratio and density
2018
Cyclical parthenogenesis presents an interesting challenge for the study of sex allocation, as individuals’ allocation decisions involve both the choice between sexual and asexual reproduction, and the choice between sons and daughters. Male production is therefore expected to depend on ecological and evolutionary drivers of overall investment in sex, and those influencing male reproductive value during sexual periods. We manipulated experimental populations, and made repeated observations of natural populations over their growing season, to disentangle effects of population density and the timing of sex from effects of adult sex ratio on sex allocation in cyclically parthenogenetic Daphnia…
State-dependent pairing behaviour in male Gammarus pulex (L.) (Crustacea, Amphipoda): effects of time left to moult and prior pairing status
2004
Because mating can be costly in terms of time and energy, an individual's propensity to engage in courtship and mating activities might be modulated by its physiological state. However, so far, state-dependent mate choice has received little attention The present study examined the effect of both prior pairing status and time left to the moult on the ability of male Gammarus pulex (Crustacea, Amphipoda) to enter in precopula with receptive females. In the lab, males that were freshly collected in precopula pairs in the field had a higher probability of re-pairing and were quicker to enter in precopula with receptive females compared to males of similar size that were freshly collected unpai…
Identifying a key host in an acanthocephalan-amphipod system.
2015
SUMMARYTrophically transmitted parasites may use multiple intermediate hosts, some of which may be ‘key-hosts’, i.e. contributing significantly more to the completion of the parasite life cycle, while others may be ‘sink hosts’ with a poor contribution to parasite transmission. Gammarus fossarum and Gammarus roeseli are sympatric crustaceans used as intermediate hosts by the acanthocephalan Pomphorhynchus laevis. Gammarus roeseli suffers higher field prevalence and is less sensitive to parasite behavioural manipulation and to predation by definitive hosts. However, no data are available on between-host differences in susceptibility to P. laevis infection, making it difficult to untangle the…
