The author critically discusses some main points of Tommaso Greco’s book La legge della fiducia. Greco distinguishes two models of law – the fiduciary model and the anti-fiduciary one – and supports the first model with good arguments. This review, while endorsing Greco’s conclusions, emphasizes some reason for perplexity and claims that the anti-fiduciary model of law helps to maintain a critical attitude towards the law.

Nel lavoro si presentano i risultati dei saggi archeologici effettuati in località S. Marina, Petralia Soprana (PA) negli 2013 e 2014, nell'area di una villa rustica di età romana. Si sono individuate due fasi di uso di alcune strutture che circondano un grande cortile porticato su un lato: la prima di età imperiale; la seconda post antica (necropoli).

Alcuni studiosi hanno isolato, nel corpus verghiano, luoghi nei quali è possibile riconoscere riferimenti impliciti a dinamiche mafiose o “protomafiose”, ovvero a codici culturali e antropologici ascrivibili a un più generico “sentire mafioso” (in alcuni episodi del Mastro-don Gesualdo o in novelle come Cavalleria rusticana e La chiave d’oro). Anche grazie al contributo di alcuni studi recenti, questo intervento intende provare ad aggiornare il dibattito, rinnovando l’attenzione al contesto politico e culturale in cui maturò la svolta verista verghiana e tornando a riflettere sulle oscillazioni tra pittoresco e antipittoresco del Verga siciliano.

Advising in family firms: shaping relational dynamics and trustful connections in strategy work

The purpose of this article is to explore strategy advisors’ actions and interactions with family actors and nonfamily managers for strategy work in family businesses. By combining the strategy-as-practice perspective with the concept of emotional engagement practices, we interpret the case of a family firm collaborating with an external advisor over a 15-year period. We add to prior studies by showing how advisors work to build trustful and emotional connections that shape relational dynamics within evolving spaces of strategic discussion. We highlight the implications for strategy work, which change as relational dynamics develop over time.

The presentation looks at the ways in which the delicate question of the relationship between mafia and politics is discussed. Newspapers, as actors can generate effects of the construction of reality, also contribute to the creation of the collective representation of the Mafia. During the presentation, the perception of the Mafia starting from different empirical data is discussed.

A marked sexual dimorphism is often observed in arthropods species in which males perform precopulatory mate guarding. It is generally thought to reflect the influence of sexual selection. Until now, sexual dimorphisms associated with mate guarding have mainly been qualitatively described. However, assessing the effects of sexual selection on sexual dimorphims requires a preliminary quantitative assessment of differences in morphology between sexes. Abstract We use two-dimensional numerical simulations to study the deformation style and the formation of nappes during the shortening of basement–cover systems with half-grabens. We perform simulations with only linear and power-law viscous rheology, and also thermo-mechanical simulations with viscoelastoplastic rheology and temperature-dependent viscosities. The accumulated, area-averaged strain is calculated for the sediments, es, and for the basement, eb, to quantify the deformation style.
