Abstract Background Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) have important and diverse biological functions in early life. This study tested the safety and efficacy of a starter infant formula containing Limosilactobacillus (L.) reuteri DSM 17938 and supplemented with 2’-fucosyllactose (2’FL). Methods Healthy infants < 14 days old (n = 289) were randomly assigned to a bovine milk-based formula containing L. reuteri DSM 17938 at 1 × 107 CFU/g (control group; CG) or the same formula with added 1.0 g/L 2’FL (experimental group; EG) until 6 months of age. Background The aim of the study was to assess prospectively the evolution of multiple clinical parameters throughout the first trimester of pregnancy. Method A transvaginal ultrasound examination and a blood test was weekly performed until the 13th gestational week in a group of healthy volunteers. A total of 25 spontaneously conceived singleton pregnant women with good pregnancy outcome finally completed the study. In dieser Kasuistik wird der Fall einer tuberkulosen Destruktion des rechten Sakroliakalgelenks eines 56-jahrigen Patienten vorgestellt. Auffallig sind die verspatete Diagnose durch Verwechslung der Beschwerdesymptomatik mit einer Lumbalgie durch Bandscheibenprolaps und die Abszedierung entlang der Psoasmuskulatur und in die umgebende intra- und extrapelvine Muskulatur. Die Therapie ist eine chirurgische, die durch eine einjahrige medikamentose Kombinationstherapie erganzt wird.

Background A high proportion of early pregnancy losses are associated to abnormal embryo development. However, chromosomal analysis of routine curettage samples are of limited value; and histopathological examinations of the embryos are rarely performed in clinical practice. Method A transcervical hystero-embryoscopy was performed prior to the curettage in 31 nonviable first-trimester pregnancies and a control group of 5 early terminations of pregnancy. Presento tambien una dacriocistitis izquierda que requirio una dacriocistorrinostomia. Se tomaron muestras intraoperatorias y en el cultivo aparecio Candida Lusitaniae como germen responsable. Tras tratamiento topico con Anfotericina B, asociado a dacriocistorrinostomia, la clinica desaparecio. Discusion: La dacriocistitis por Candida Lusitaniae es muy rara. El adenocarcinoma de celulas basales es un tumor raro y descrito por la Organizacion Mundial de la Salud (OMS) en 1991 como entidad propia. La edad media de presentacion es de 48 anos y no muestra predominio sexual. El curso es insidioso con signos y sintomas inespecificos. Presentamos un caso de adenocarcinoma de saco lacrimal, cuyo diagnostico se realizo por anatomia patologica. Mostramos los hallazgos de tomografia computarizada, resonancia magnetica y anatomia patologica. Se comenta el diagnostico diferencial y el tratamiento.
