In this paper we present a stereo visual odometry system developed for autonomous underwater vehicle localization tasks. The main idea is to make use of only highly reliable data in the estimation process, employing a robust keypoint tracking approach and an effective keyframe selection strategy, so that camera movements are estimated with high accuracy even for long paths. Accurate keyframe selection and keypoint tracking for robust visual odometry

This paper presents a novel stereo visual odometry (VO) framework based on structure from motion, where a robust keypoint tracking and matching is combined with an effective keyframe selection strategy. In order to track and find correct feature correspondences a robust loop chain matching scheme on two consecutive stereo pairs is introduced. Keyframe selection is based on the proportion of features with high temporal disparity. This criterion relies on the observation that the error in the pose estimation propagates from the uncertainty of 3D points—higher for distant points, that have low 2D motion. Abstract This paper considers packing and cutting problems in which a packing/cutting pattern is constrained independently in two or more dimensions. Examples are restrictions with respect to weight, length, and value. We present branch-and-price algorithms to solve these vector packing problems (VPPs) exactly. The underlying column-generation procedure uses an extended master program that is stabilized by (deep) dual-optimal inequalities. We consider the problem of polling web pages as a strategy for monitoring the world wide web. The problem consists of repeatedly polling a selection of web pages so that changes that occur over time are detected. In particular, we consider the case where we are constrained to poll a maximum number of web pages per unit of time, and this constraint is typically dictated by the governing communication bandwidth, and by the speed limitations associated with the processing.
