FLUID MECHANICS ANALYSIS OF A SAILBOAT MAST
2009
This study aims to analyze different configurations of mast-sail coupling of a boat with single sail and wishbone rig to vary the shape of the cross-section of the mast that is to assess the influence of the mast on the performance of the sail. The analysis is performed with four several shapes of the mast cross section and several angles of attack to the wind. The numerical simulations on different geometries show an improvement by using a wing shape for the mast rotated in the direction of the wind, in all the corners. This solution allows to rotate rigidly the system mast-boom-sail in order to maintain the same angle of incidence and maximize the efficiency of the sail. The efficiency in…

L'apprentissage implicite d'une grammaire artificielle chez l'enfant avec et sans retard mental : rôle des propriétés du matériel et influence des in…
2010
This thesis investigates artificial grammar implicit learning in mentally retarded and typically developing children through the role of the surface features (adjacent or non-adjacent repetitions) of the material and the influence of test instructions (implicit or explicit generation tests). One of the aims is to differentiate between four of the main implicit learning models by examining the sensitivity to the perceptually salient features of the material presented to children of different ages. The robustness of implicit learning capacities in the face of development and intellectual level is equally tested according to the permeability of the test instructions to explicit influences. Fin…

San Luigi: reliquie e reliquiari tra Terrasanta, Francia e Sicilia
2017
A SIMULTANEOUS ENGINEERING APPROACH TO THE YACHT DESIGN
2009
The authors describe the approach applied to the design and manufacturing of a 15” dinghy which will challenge other similar sailing boats in fleet regattas. The Simultaneous Engineering approach appears to be the most powerful instrument since it permits to keep under control many variables simultaneously and then to reduce the Time To Market. Starting from regatta rules and limitations, the hull shape has been chosen and then modelled with a parametric CAD software. Such a model has been managed in order to be suitable for both FEM (Finite Element Method) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses.
L’influence politique de Versailles sur la noblesse lituanienne à la fin du XVIIe siècle
2021
In the second half of the seventeenth century, French diplomacy dominated Europe, including the Polish-Lithuanian state and its most important aristocratic families. The reports of French diplomats described their encounters with the most eminent families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania: the Sapiehas and Radziwiłłs (the most powerful), the Pacs, Wiśniowieckis and Ogińskis. Through them, Versailles sought to implement its policy in the Polish-Lithuanian state, and win these allies through (usually honoured) promises of money. The goal was to support a French candidate to the Polish throne and to prevail against Vienna and Berlin on the European political chessboard. While efforts to cooperat…
