Relationship and Market Conditions: Outcomes in Marketing Channels
2012
Purpose: In today's highly competitive business environment, many organizations are tending to reduce the number of suppliers to focus on establishing stable and close relationships with a small number of them. The study here analyzes the influence of both market and relationship conditions on trust, commitment, and customer loyalty. Methodology/Approach: Empirical research was conducted by collecting information from a sample of 304 retailers. A structural equations model is estimated. Findings: Results support a positive influence of relationship value on trust and, in turn, on long-term orientation and commitment, with the latter as a strong antecedent of customer loyalty. In contrast, d…
The choice of offshoring operation mode: A behavioural perspective
2019
Since offshoring has recently become an integral part of corporate strategies, choosing the specific offshoring operation mode is a crucial aspect for CEOs. Using a sample of 466 offshoring operations, this study analyses offshoring mode decisions from the rationale of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). Drawing on this perspective, our results indicate that this decision seems to be clearly influenced by the manager's intentions and partially determined by some competences originated in the resources and experience of the firm. Additionally, and contrary to the common view in the field, our findings suggest that instead of being a possible intermediate option between the “make or buy” d…
A Novel Method to Characterize User Sessions of Educational Software
2013
Abstract Software applications destined for the educational environment have a long history and have evolved side by side with the progress of technology from simple computer assisted instruction programs to sophisticated eLearning platforms. A study that we have conducted on a sample of 395 children aged 6 through 12, coming from both the rural and the urban environments, shows that an increasing number of children use computer related technologies. Given their exposure to these technologies it is imperative that the educational applications be designed in a way that takes into account the children's abilities, interests and the demands for their development. We have proposed a 5-dimension…
Combined effects of tactical, technical and contextual factors on shooting effectiveness in European professional soccer

ABSTRACTThe aim of this paper was to investigate the combined effects of tactical, technical and contextual dimensions on shooting effectiveness in European professional soccer. The sample included...
Characterization of the Altered Zone Around a Fracture in Palmottu Natural Analogue
1996
AbstractA drill core sample penetrating at a natural fracture has been analysed by helium gas techniques and by α-autoradiography. Porosity and diffusivity profiles away from the fracture have been determined and compared with structural profiles. Model calculations are used to determine the effects of sample size on the measured porosities and diffusivities.
Validation of a method for the determination of boron in ceramic materials by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry
2000
Abstract A method is proposed for boron determination in ceramic materials, boracic raw materials and ceramics frits of different compositions by wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence technique. The instrumental conditions were studied and the sample preparation procedures were optimized. The reference method used was the potentiometric titration of mannitol–boric complex acid and the technique was optimized for the determination of B 2 O 3 in each of the materials used. The samples for XRF determination were obtained as pellets and as glass discs. For the pellets different binders were studied, such as mannitol and cellullose for the samples of raw materials, and polyvinylpirrolidone an…
The pore structure of compacted and partly saturated MX-80 bentonite at different dry densities
2014
Compacted MX-80 bentonite is a potential backfill material in radioactive-waste repositories. Pore space in MX-80 has been the subject of considerable debate. 3D reconstructions of the pore space based on tomographic methods could provide new insights into the nature of the pore space of compacted bentonites. To date, few such reconstructions have been done because of problems with the preparation of bentonite samples for electron microscopy. The nanoscale intergranular pore space was investigated here by cryo-Focused Ion Beam nanotomography (FIB-nt) applied to previously high-pressure frozen MX-80 bentonite samples. This approach allowed a tomographic investigation of the in situ microstru…
Recent applications of carbonaceous nanosorbents for the analysis of mycotoxins in food by liquid chromatography: a short review
2019
Carbonaceous nanomaterials (multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), graphene, and graphene oxide (GO)) have attracted attention over the last decade as adsorbents suitable for the analysis of organic and inorganic pollutants. In the present paper we review methods of mycotoxin analysis that involve sample extraction with carbonaceous nanosorbents, reported from 2011 onwards. Recent studies have highlighted the advantages of magnetically modified MWCNTs and GO in mycotoxin analysis, which may enable sample isolation through magnetic separation, reduce the interaction of nanoparticles, and enhance the recovery of analytes. The papers covered in this review point to promising applications of …
Testing laboratory methods to determine the anisotropy of saturated hydraulic conductivity in a sandy–loam soil
2009
Abstract Anisotropy, a (the log of the ratio of horizontal to vertical conductivity, log 10 ( K h / K v )), of saturated soil hydraulic conductivity, K s , affects transport processes in soil but is not routinely measured, probably because practical and validated methods are lacking. The objective of this investigation was to determine the effects of different constant-head laboratory and sampling procedures on anisotropy of saturated hydraulic conductivity measurements. The sequence of K s measurements was varied (vertical conductivity, K v , first, then horizontal, K h , second and vice versa) for an experimental set-up considering five variables: 1) water ponding type (Mariotte or siphon…
Study of the e+ Distribution in a Layered Stack Sample Using Positron Lifetime Spectroscopy
2010
The results of the Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, using GEANT4 codes, indicate the enhancement of the fraction of the e+ in the denser regions of the sample embedded by the less dense environment. The positron lifetime measurements, performed for two stacks of layers consisting of pure aluminum and silver do not seem to reveal this effect. Some features of the e+ distribution detected in the experiments are not reproduced by the MC simulations.
