p-Laplacen operaattorin ominaisarvo-ongelmasta
2016
Tämän tutkielman tarkoitus on tutustua epälineaarisiin ominaisarvo-ongelmiin p-Laplacen operaattorin ominaisarvo-ongelman kautta. p-Laplacen operaattori on Laplacen operaattorin eräs yleistys ja tarkastelun kohteena oleva ominaisarvo-ongelma on Dirichletin ominaisarvo-ongelman yleistys.
Guaranteed error bounds and local indicators for adaptive solvers using stabilised space-time IgA approximations to parabolic problems
2019
The paper is concerned with space–time IgA approximations to parabolic initial–boundary value problems. We deduce guaranteed and fully computable error bounds adapted to special features of such type of approximations and investigate their efficiency. The derivation of error estimates is based on the analysis of the corresponding integral identity and exploits purely functional arguments in the maximal parabolic regularity setting. The estimates are valid for any approximation from the admissible (energy) class and do not contain mesh-dependent constants. They provide computable and fully guaranteed error bounds for the norms arising in stabilised space–time approximations. Furthermore, a p…
PROLONGED TREATMENT OF HUMAN OSTEOSARCOMA MG63 CELLS WITH 3AB INDUCES THE PRODUCTION OF TUMOR INITIATING CELLS.

3AB-OS, a human osteosarcoma stem-like cell line, potential model for studying cancer
2012
In human osteosarcoma 3AB-OS cancer stem cells let-7d seems to have the dual function of oncogene/tumor-suppressor miRNA
2015
Introduction: Osteosarcoma (OS), an aggressive tumor a!ecting adolescents, shows therapy resistance and recurrence which can depend on cancer stem cells (CSCs), the source for tissue renewal and hold malignant potential; thus, OS treatment requires their eradication. Here, using 3AB-OS CSCs previously obtained from the OS-MG63 cells, we focused on the role of let-7d in managing stemness properties of 3AB-OS CSCs. Methods: 3AB-OS CSCs were stably transfected with pCDomH-plasmid, containing mir-let7-d, or empty vector as a control. Cell proliferation and viability were evaluated by EdU and Trypan blue assays, respectively. Sarcosphere and colony assays and wound healing and transwell invasion…
WIN-induced vesiculation cooperates to the inhibition of osteosarcoma cell migration
2015
Introduction. Animal cells release vesicles that mediate the secretion of a variety of factors in the surrounding environment affecting neighboring cells. There is increasing evidence that secreted vesicles play an important role as vehicle of intercellular communication in different biological systems and are able to influence both physiological and pathological processes. Recently, we have reported that the synthetic cannabinoid WIN55,512 is able to induce osteosarcoma MG63 cell death and negatively affect cell migration. Here, we study the effects of WIN on the induction of vesicle secretion and their possible role in WIN-dependent reduction of osteosarcoma cell migratory ability. Method…
2017
Introduction Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumour in children and adolescents. Current management of high-grade osteosarcoma consists of administration of neoadjuvant/adjuvant chemotherapy and complete surgical removal of all tumour sites. The most important prognostic factors for long-term survival are: disease extension (localized/metastatic), primary tumour location (extremity/axial), histologic response to first-line induction chemotherapy and surgical removal of all detectable lesions. The addition of chemotherapy to surgery in the 1970s and 80s increased substantially long-term survival of osteosarcoma patients. However, no further improvement of survival has …
Influence of harvesting time on composition of the essential oil of Thymus capitatus (L.) Hoffmanns. & Link. growing wild in northern Sicily and its …
2019
One of the main factors affecting historical art crafts material is the biodeterioration performed by bacteria and fungi, in archives, museums or private collections. Several microorganisms cause degradation to the natural organic material such as fibers, woods, and dyes as well as to stone objects. These alterations produce deterioration of physical, chemical, mechanical and esthetic properties. Consequently, in this publication, we report the high antibacterial and antifungal activities of wild thyme essential oil, oil that can be used as an alternative natural tool in the fight against microorganisms affecting historical art crafts.Essential oil of the Thymus capitatus growing wild in no…
