Helping lecturers address and formulate teaching challenges: an exploratory study

International audience; In this paper we present an exploratory study on the kind of questions or difficulties lecturers point out at the beginning of an educational course – to be addressed in it. These questions happen to be very general and are poorly connected to the knowledge to be taught. We suggest a twofold interpretation of this phenomenon. On the one hand, and in the line of the didactic transposition theory, teachers do not allow themselves to raise questions about the knowledge that is supposed to be their main field of expertise. Results of a dental care protocol for mentally handicapped patients set in a primary health care area in Spain

Objective: Disabled people have the same right as other people to receive the health care they need, but they sometimes have difficulties to achieve it. In Castilla y Leon it has come into effect a law to guarantee Primary and Secondary Care coordination to provide dental treatment under sedation or anaesthesia to mentally disabled people who need it. Small angle scattering study of poly(methylmethacrylate)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) block co-polymer in aqueous solution

A combined Small Angle X ray (SAXS) and Neutron (SANS) Scattering study of aqueous solutions of a symmetric block copolymer consisting of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) moieties is presented. The polymer forms slightly polydisperse spherical micelles in a wide range of concentration (0.03 – 6.7 w/V) and temperature (20°C ≤ T ≤ 65°C). A good description of the SANS data is obtained using a polydisperse core-shell model with a structure factor for a modified hard sphere potential. High-statistics study of f0(1500) decay into π0π0

Abstract A partial-wave analysis of the reaction p p →π 0 π 0 π 0 has been performed using a high-quality high-statistics data set of 712 000 events. In addition to the f0(975) and f0(1300), the scalar resonance with mass m = (1500 ± 15) MeV and width Γ = (120 ± 25) MeV is necessary to describe the data.

COMPARISON OF CPML IMPLEMENTATIONS FOR THE GPU-ACCELERATED FDTD SOLVER

Three distinctively difierent implementations of convolu- tional perfectly matched layer for the FDTD method on CUDA enabled graphics processing units are presented. All implementations store ad- ditional variables only inside the convolutional perfectly matched lay- ers, and the computational speeds scale according to the thickness of these layers. The merits of the difierent approaches are discussed, and a comparison of computational performance is made using complex real-life benchmarks.

Regge phenomenology in π0 and η photoproduction

The $\ensuremath{\gamma}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}N$ and $\ensuremath{\gamma}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}N$ reactions at photon beam energies above 4 GeV are investigated within Regge models. The models include $t$-channel exchanges of vector ($\ensuremath{\rho}$ and $\ensuremath{\omega}$) and axial-vector (${b}_{1}$ and ${h}_{1}$) mesons. Songs in passerine birds are important for territory defense and mating. Speciation rates in oscine passerines are so high, due to cultural evolution, that this bird lineage makes up half of the extant bird species. Leaf warblers are a speciose Old-World passerine family of limited morphological differentiation, so that songs are even more important for species delimitation. We took 16 sonographic traits from song recordings of 80 leaf warbler taxa and correlated them with 15 potentially explanatory variables, pairwise, and in linear models.
