In the context of restricted budgetary resources and the growing cost of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, a major issue for modern armed forces is to sustain defense platforms. In this paper, to determine the optimal parameters of the product acceptance process under parametric uncertainty of underlying models, a new intelligent technique for optimization of product acceptance process on the basis of misclassification probability is proposed. Recent macro-level research argues that economic globalisation negatively affects electoral turnout by constraining the leeway of national governments and thereby rendering elections less meaningful to voters. This article analyses the link between perceptions of the national government's room to manoeuvre and turnout on the individual level. Drawing on the 2001 British General Election, it is shown that citizens who believe that economic globalisation leaves the national government with less influence on the economy are less likely to report to have voted. HPC systems contain an increasing number of components, decreasing the mean time between failures. Checkpoint mechanisms help to overcome such failures for long-running applications. A viable solution to remove the resulting pressure from the I/O backends is to deduplicate the checkpoints. However, there is little knowledge about the potential to save I/Os for HPC applications by using deduplication within the checkpointing process. In this paper, we perform a broad study about the deduplication behavior of HPC application checkpointing and its impact on system design.

Abstract In 1994, Brockhoff and Skovgaard presented the so-called assessor model, including a “scaling coefficient” expressing the predisposition of a panelist to spread more or less his scores than the panel on a given sensory descriptor. This paper discusses potential scaling causes, and then proposes a decomposition of the scaling coefficient into two components: (i) an overall scaling coefficient, independent of the descriptors, expressing a psychological trend of the panelist towards the scoring task in general; (ii) a corrected scaling coefficient for each descriptor, expressing specific sensitivity of the panelist to the descriptor.
