La formula di Mucio Scevola, i nomi delle azioni e l'agere per concepta uerba
2021
The formula Mucii Scaeuolae depicted in the fresco of ‘The Jurist’s Villa’ upon the Aniene river probably does not refer to a specific action of the formulary procedure (agere per formulas). The pratice of naming some actions after the nomen gentilicium of a praetor is in fact attested in our sources only after the so-called codification of the Edictum Perpetuum in the age of Hadrian. The discovery of the fresco leads us to reflect once again on the origins of the formulary procedure, since the Mucius Scaevola of the fresco inscription may well refer to the jurist Quintus Mucius Scaevola. This in turn might suggest both that he was actually owner of the villa and that it was he who introduc…
Ruolo dei parassitoidi oofagi nel controllo naturale dei fitofagi del nocciolo responsabili del “cimiciato delle nocciole” nel Parco dei Nebrodi (ME).
2009
Role of oophagous parasitoids in the natural control of hazelnut bugs inducing the “cimiciato seeds” in Nebrodi Park (ME) Oophagous parasitoids of bugs collected on hazelnut cultivations and seasonal parasitism on eggs of Gonocerus acutengulatus (Goeze) were studied from 2004 to 2006 in the Nebrodi Park (ME). Samples of bug eggs were collected in three altitude areas, 300-590, 600-890 and 900-1100 m above sea level, and examined in laboratory. Parasitoid adults obtained from all eggs were identified. Parasitization levels, detected on G. acuteangulatus in all areas showed a similar trend with the most value on August. Significant regression between the total number of eggs and the number of…
X-ray emission from MP Muscae: an old classical T Tauri star
2007
We study the properties of X-ray emitting plasma of MP Mus, an old classical T Tauri star. We aim at checking whether an accretion process produces the observed X-ray emission and at deriving the accretion parameters and the characteristics of the shock-heated plasma. We compare the properties of MP Mus with those of younger classical T Tauri stars to test whether age is related to the properties of the X-ray emission plasma. XMM-Newton X-ray spectra allows us to measure plasma temperatures, abundances, and electron density. In particular the density of cool plasma probes whether X-ray emission is produced by plasma heated in the accretion process. X-ray emission from MP Mus originates from…
A method for anomaly detection in hyperspectral images, using deep convolutional autoencoders
2017
Menetelmä poikkeavuuksien havaitsemiseen hyperspektrikuvista käyttäen syviä konvolutiivisia autoenkoodereita. Poikkeavuuksien havaitseminen kuvista, erityisesti hyperspektraalisista kuvista, on hankalaa.
X-ray emission from the old CTTS MP Muscae
2007
We study the properties of X-ray emitting plasma of MP Mus, an old classical T Tauri star. XMM-Newton/RGS spectra allow us to measure the plasma electron density, which probes whether X-ray emission is produced in the accretion process. X-ray emission from MP Mus originates from high density cool plasma but a hot flaring component is also present, suggesting that both coronal magnetic activity and accretion contribute to the observed X-ray emission. From the soft part of the X-ray emission from MP Mus, mostly produced by plasma heated in the accretion shock, we derive the accretion parameters and the characteristics of the shock-heated plasma.
