The two-loop three-point functions. General massive cases

1992

Abstract We present a calculation of the two-loop three-point scalar functions for the two overlapping topologies. These are the master functions for the ladder and the crossed ladder graphs. We also present a method for the extraction of possible (on-shell) mass singularities.

Biases on cosmological parameters by general relativity effects

2012

General relativistic corrections to the galaxy power spectrum appearing at the horizon scale, if neglected, may induce biases on the measured values of the cosmological parameters. In this paper, we study the impact of general relativistic effects on non standard cosmologies such as scenarios with a time dependent dark energy equation of state, with a coupling between the dark energy and the dark matter fluids or with non-Gaussianities. We then explore whether general relativistic corrections affect future constraints on cosmological parameters in the case of a constant dark energy equation of state and of non-Gaussianities. We find that relativistic corrections on the power spectrum are no…

Phenomenological approaches of inflation and their equivalence

2014

In this work, we analyze two possible alternative and model-independent approaches to describe the inflationary period. The first one assumes a general equation of state during inflation due to Mukhanov, while the second one is based on the slow-roll hierarchy suggested by Hoffman and Turner. We find that, remarkably, the two approaches are equivalent from the observational viewpoint, as they single out the same areas in the parameter space, and agree with the inflationary attractors where successful inflation occurs. Rephrased in terms of the familiar picture of a slowly rolling, canonically normalized scalar field, the resulting inflaton excursions in these two approaches are almost ident…

Cosmology in a certain vector-tensor theory of gravitation

2014

We study relevant cosmological topics in the framework of a certain vector-tensor theory of gravitation (hereafter VT). This theory is first compared with the so-called extended electromagnetism (EE). These theories have a notable resemblance and both explain the existence of a cosmological constant. It is shown that, in EE, a positive dark energy density requires a Lagrangian leading to quantum ghosts, whereas VT is free from these ghosts. On account of this fact, the remainder of the paper is devoted to study cosmology in the framework of VT. Initial conditions, at high redshift, are used to solve the evolution equations of all the VT scalar modes. In particular, a certain scalar mode cha…

Future weak lensing constraints in a dark coupled universe

2011

Coupled cosmologies can predict values for the cosmological parameters at low redshifts which may differ substantially from the parameters values within non-interacting cosmologies. Therefore, low redshift probes, as the growth of structure and the dark matter distribution via galaxy and weak lensing surveys constitute a unique tool to constrain interacting dark sector models. We focus here on weak lensing forecasts from future Euclid and LSST-like surveys combined with the ongoing Planck cosmic microwave background experiment. We find that these future data could constrain the dimensionless coupling to be smaller than a few $\times 10^{-2}$. The coupling parameter $\xi$ is strongly degener…

High temperature giant dipole and isoscalar resonances

1990

We present a systematic study of the Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) at high temperatures (T≧4 MeV) in the framework of a semiclassical approximation that uses them1 andm3 RPA sum rules to estimate the GDR mean energy. We focus on the evolution withT of the collective nature of the GDR and of theL=0, 2, 3 and 4 isoscalar resonances. We find that the GDR remains particularly collective at highT, suggesting that it might be possible to observe it experimentally even at temperatures close to the maximum one a nucleus can sustain.

Multiparticle correlations in the Schwinger mechanism

2009

We discuss the Schwinger mechanism in scalar QED and derive the multiplicity distribution of particles created under an external electric field using the LSZ reduction formula. Assuming that the electric field is spatially homogeneous, we find that the particles of different momenta are produced independently, and that the multiplicity distribution in one mode follows a Bose-Einstein distribution. We confirm the consistency of our results with an intuitive derivation by means of the Bogoliubov transformation on creation and annihilation operators. Finally we revisit a known solvable example of time-dependent electric fields to present exact and explicit expressions for demonstration.

Quasistationary solutions of self-gravitating scalar fields around collapsing stars

2015

Recent work has shown that scalar fields around black holes can form long-lived, quasistationary configurations surviving for cosmological time scales. Scalar fields thus cannot be discarded as viable candidates for dark matter halo models in galaxies around central supermassive black holes (SMBHs). One hypothesized formation scenario of most SMBHs at high redshift is the gravitational collapse of supermassive stars (SMSs) with masses of $\ensuremath{\sim}{10}^{5}\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{M}}_{\ensuremath{\bigodot}}$. Any such scalar field configurations must survive the gravitational collapse of a SMS in order to be a viable model of physical reality. To check for the postcollapse survival …

X(2175)as a resonant state of theϕKK¯system

2008

We perform a Faddeev calculation for the three-meson system $\ensuremath{\phi}K\overline{K}$, taking the interaction between two pseudoscalar mesons and between a vector and a pseudoscalar meson from the chiral unitary approach. We obtain a neat resonance peak around a total mass of 2150 MeV and an invariant mass for the $K\overline{K}$ system around 970 MeV, very close to the ${f}_{0}(980)$ mass. The state appears in $I=0$ and qualifies as a $\ensuremath{\phi}{f}_{0}(980)$ resonance. We enlarge the space of states including $\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}$, since $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}$ and $K\overline{K}$ build up the ${f}_{0}(980)$, and find moderate changes…
