B0andBs0decays intoJ/ψf0(980)andJ/ψf0(500)and the nature of the scalar resonances

2014

Abstract We describe the B 0 and B s 0 decays into J / ψ f 0 ( 500 ) and J / ψ f 0 ( 980 ) by taking into account the dominant process for the weak decay of B 0 and B s 0 into J / ψ and a q q ¯ component. After hadronization of this q q ¯ component into pairs of pseudoscalar mesons we obtain certain weights for the meson–meson components and allow them to interact among themselves. The final state interaction of the meson–meson components, described in terms of chiral unitary theory, gives rise to the f 0 ( 980 ) and f 0 ( 500 ) resonances and we can obtain the π + π − invariant mass distributions after the decay of the resonances, which allows us to compare directly to the experiments. We …

Chiral dynamics in theγp→π0ηpandγp→π0K0Σ+reactions

2006

Using a chiral unitary approach for meson-baryon scattering in the strangeness zero sector, where the ${N}^{*}(1535){S}_{11}$ resonance is dynamically generated, we study the reactions $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\ensuremath{\eta}p$ and $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{K}^{0}{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{+}$ at photon energies at which the final states are produced close to threshold. Among several reaction mechanisms, we find the most important is the excitation of the ${\ensuremath{\Delta}}^{*}(1700){D}_{33}$ state, which subsequently decays into a pseudoscalar meson and a baryon belonging to the $\ensuremath{\Delta}(1232)…

The decay η → π0h0 in two-higgs-doublet models

1991

The possibility of a light scalar in the framework of two-Higgs-doublet models is studied. The range of masses 100 MeV < mh0 < 2mπ is already excluded by present experiment bounds on the transition η → π0h0 in the model where the neutral component of one doublet couples to fermions with weak isospin T3 = −12 and the neutral component of the second doublet to fermions with T3 = +12. These bounds also constrain tightly the structure of the Yukawa couplings in two-Higgs-doublet models.

125 GeV Higgs from a chiral techniquark model

2014

We consider the spin-zero spectrum of a strongly coupled gauge theory. In particular, we focus on the dynamical mass of the isosinglet scalar resonance in the presence of a four-fermion interaction external to the gauge dynamics. This is motivated by the extended technicolor framework for dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking. Applying the large-$N$ limit, we sum all the leading-order contributions, and find that the corrections to the mass of the isosinglet scalar resonance can be large, potentially reducing its value from ${\cal O}(1)$ TeV to the observed value of 125 GeV.

Electroweak phase transition in left-right symmetric models

1998

We study the finite-temperature effective potential of minimal left-right symmetric models containing a bidoublet and two triplets in the scalar sector. We perform a numerical analysis of the parameter space compatible with the requirement that baryon asymmetry is not washed out by sphaleron processes after the electroweak phase transition. We find that the spectrum of scalar particles for these acceptable cases is consistent with present experimental bounds.

Measurements ofe+e−→K+K−η,K+K−π0, andKs0K±π∓cross sections using initial state radiation events

2008

This paper reports measurements of processes: e+e-→γKS0K±π∓, e+e-→γK+K-π0, e+e-→γϕη, and e+e-→γϕπ0. The initial-state radiated photon allows to cover the hadronic final state in the energy range from thresholds up to ≈4.6  GeV. The overall size of the data sample analyzed is 232  fb-1, collected by the BABAR detector running at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring. From the Dalitz plot analysis of the KS0K±π∓ final state, moduli, and relative phase of the isoscalar and the isovector components of the e+e-→KK*(892) cross section are determined. Parameters of ϕ and ρ recurrences are also measured, using a global fitting procedure which exploits the interconnection among amplitudes, moduli, and phases…

Roper excitation in alpha-proton scattering

1995

We study the Roper excitation in the $(\alpha,\alpha')$ reaction. We consider all processes which may be relevant in the Roper excitation region, namely, Roper excitation in the target, Roper excitation in the projectile, and double $\Delta$ excitation processes. The theoretical investigation shows that the Roper excitation in the proton target mediated by an isoscalar exchange is the dominant mechanism in the process. We determine an effective isoscalar interaction by means of which the experimental cross section is well reproduced. This should be useful to make predictions in related reactions and is a first step to construct eventually a microscopic $NN \rightarrow NN^*$ transition poten…

Calculations for a disk source and a general detector using a radiation vector potential

2008

A closed form expression for a radiation vector potential is derived for a generalized disk radiation source. By applying Stokes's theorem the surface integral for the radiation flux into a general detector is converted into a much simpler line integral of the vector potential around the edge of the detector. This line integral can be easily evaluated for general detector geometry and general location and angular orientation relative to the disk source. For a number of cases the line integral reduces to integrals of Bessel functions which give various generalizations of Ruby's formula. Explicit formulas and numerical results for the geometric efficiency are given for circular and elliptical…

Search for narrow dibaryon resonances in neutral pion photoproduction from the deuteron

2000

The reaction γd↦π0 X has been measured with TAPS at MAMI in the energy range E γ = 140-300 MeV. Using the Glasgow tagging spectrometer a photon energy resolution of 0.8 MeV was achieved. The energy excitation functions of integral and differential total cross-sections show no structures of statistical significance > 2σ. Upper limits for the production of narrow isoscalar or isovector dibaryons with masses m? 2100 MeV/c2 were deduced. They are in the range 2-5 μb averaged over the 0.8 MeV energy resolution.

Triangle singularity enhancing isospin violation in ${\bar{{\rm{B}}}}_{{\rm{s}}}^{0}\to {\rm{J}}/{\rm{\psi }}{\pi }^{0}{{\rm{f}}}_{0}(980)$

2018

We perform calculations for the and reactions, showing that the first is isospin-suppressed while the second is isospin-allowed. The reaction proceeds via a triangle mechanism, with , followed by the decay K* → Kπ and a further fusion of into the or a0(980). We show that the mechanism develops a singularity around the π0 f0(980) or π0 a0(980) invariant mass of 1420 MeV, where the π0 f0 and π0 a0 decay modes are magnified and also the ratio of π0 f0 to π0 a0 production. Using experimental information for the decay, we are able to obtain absolute values for the reactions studied which fall into the experimentally accessible range. The reactions proposed and the observables evaluated, when con…
