The hadronic cross-section in the resonance energy region

2004

Abstract We study the hadronic vacuum polarization in the resonance energy region, using the framework given bythe Resonance Effective Theory of QCD. We consider the incorporation of vector-pseudoscalar meson loops that give, inclusively, three and four pseudoscalar meson cuts. After resummation we achieve a QCD-based inclusive parameterization of the correlator, hence of the hadronic cross-section in the energy region populated by resonances.

Wγproduction in vector boson fusion at NLO in QCD

2014

The next-to-leading order QCD corrections to ${W}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ production in association with two jets via vector boson fusion are calculated, including the leptonic decay of the $W$ with full off-shell effects and spin correlations. The process lends itself to a test of quartic gauge couplings. The next-to-leading order corrections reduce the scale uncertainty significantly and show a nontrivial phase space dependence.

A QCD calculation of the pion scalar form factor (σ-term)

1991

Abstract The scalar pion form factor (also known as σ-term) is calculated from the QCD Green function approach. The result at q 2 = 0 is in excellent agreement with the PCAC prediction. We also present the q 2 -dependence of the form factor which allows us to obtain the scalar radius of the pion as 〈 r 2 〉 π s = 12.6 ± 1.3 GeV −2 .

The strange-quark mass from QCD sum rules in the pseudoscalar channel

1997

QCD Laplace transform sum rules, involving the axial-vector current divergences, are used in order to determine the strange quark mass. The two-point function is known in QCD up to four loops in perturbation theory, and up to dimension-six in the non-perturbative sector. The hadronic spectral function is reconstructed using threshold normalization from chiral symmetry, together with experimental data for the two radial excitations of the kaon. The result for the running strange quark mass, in the $\bar{MS}$ scheme at a scale of 1 ${GeV}^{2}$ is: ${\bar m}_{s}(1 GeV^{2}) = 155 \pm 25 {MeV}$.

Order-$\alpha_s^3$ determination of the strange quark mass

1996

We present a QCD sum rule calculation of the strange-quark mass including four-loop QCD corrections to the correlator of scalar currents. We obtain $\bar m_s(1$ GeV$)=205.5\pm 19.1$ MeV.

Sliding Vacua in Dense Skyrmion Matter

2003

In continuation of our systematic effort to understand hadronic matter at high density, we study dense skyrmion matter and its chiral phase structure in an effective field theory implemented with the trace anomaly of QCD applicable in the large $N_c$ limit. By incorporating a dilaton field $\chi$ associated with broken conformal symmetry of QCD into the simplest form of skyrmion Lagrangian, we simulate the effect of "sliding vacua" influenced by the presence of matter and obtain what could correspond to the ``intrinsic dependence" on the background of the system, i.e., matter density or temperature, that results when a generic chiral effective field theory of strong interactions is matched …

Extraction of heavy-quark-expansion parameters from unquenched lattice data on pseudoscalar and vector heavy-light meson masses

2017

We present a precise lattice computation of pseudoscalar and vector heavy-light meson masses for heavy-quark masses ranging from the physical charm mass up to $\ensuremath{\simeq}4$ times the physical $b$-quark mass. We employ the gauge configurations generated by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration (ETMC) with ${N}_{f}=2+1+1$ dynamical quarks at three values of the lattice spacing ($a\ensuremath{\simeq}0.062,0.082,0.089\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{fm}$) with pion masses in the range ${M}_{\ensuremath{\pi}}\ensuremath{\simeq}210--450\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}$. The heavy-quark mass is simulated directly on the lattice up to $\ensuremath{\simeq}3$ times the physical charm mass. The interpol…

Gluon Mass, Glueballs and Gluonic Mesons

2011

We review the phenomenological and theoretical evidences for dynamical gluon mass generation and the main features of the glueball spectrum in (pure gauge) Yang-Mills theories. The mixing between glueball and conventional $\bar q q$ states in $f_0$ scalar mesons is discussed. For pseudoscalar mesons, the inclusion of the glue field in an effective low energy theory is presented leading to a third isoscalar $\eta''$ partner of the $\eta$ and $\eta'$. Branching ratios for processes involving $\eta''$ are given and, when available, compatible with data for $\eta(1405)$.
