Numerical 3D modelling of turbulent melt flow in a large CZ system with horizontal DC magnetic field. II. Comparison with measurements

This paper presents a comparison between numerically calculated and measured temperature distributions in turbulent flow in a laboratory model for a CZ large silicon single crystal industrial growth system with a horizontal DC magnetic field. The laboratory model consists of an electrically heated 20” crucible with low-temperature InGaSn melt, a water-cooled metallic crystal model, and a magnet system creating a horizontal magnetic field in the range 0–. Net analyte signal as a deconvolution-oriented resolution criterion in the optimisation of chromatographic techniques

The performance of two multivariate calibration measurements, multivariate selectivity (SEL(s)) and scalar net analyte signal (scalar NAS), as chromatographic objective functions (COFs), was investigated. Since both assessments are straightforwardly related to the quantification of analytes in the presence of interferents, they were expected to confer new features in the optimisation of compound resolution, not present in conventional assessments. Ethnic residential segregation is often explained with the claim that ‘immigrants don’t want to integrate—they prefer to stick together with co-ethnics’. By contrast, mixed neighbourhoods are seen as crucial for achieving social cohesion. In line with spatial assimilation theory there is a normative assumption that people interact with those living nearby. In this paper we give a comparison theorem for the relative volume of such a pair, with some bounds on the Ricci curvature ofM and the mean curvature ofP, with respect to that of a model pair\(\left( {\mathcal{P},\mathcal{M}} \right)\) where ℳ is a revolution manifold and\(\mathcal{P}\) a “parallel” of ℳ.

A comparison theorem for the mean exit time from a domain in a K�hler manifold

Let M be a Kahler manifold with Ricci and antiholomorphic Ricci curvature bounded from below. Let ω be a domain in M with some bounds on the mean and JN-mean curvatures of its boundary ∂ω. The main result of this paper is a comparison theorem between the Mean Exit Time function defined on ω and the Mean Exit Time from a geodesic ball of the complex projective space ℂℙ n (λ) which involves a characterization of the geodesic balls among the domain ω. In order to achieve this, we prove a comparison theorem for the mean curvatures of hypersurfaces parallel to the boundary of ω, using the Index Lemma for Submanifolds.

GAMIT - A Fading-Gaussian Activation Model of Interval-Timing: Unifying Prospective and Retrospective Time Estimation

Two recent findings constitute a serious challenge for all existing models of interval timing. First, Hass and Hermann (2012) have shown that only variance-based processes will lead to the scalar growth of error that is characteristic of human time judgments. Secondly, a major meta-review of over one hundred studies of participants’ judgments of interval duration (Block et al., 2010) reveals a striking interaction between the way in which temporal judgments are queried (i.e., retrospectively or prospectively) and cognitive load.
