Sensory methodology developed for the investigation of sciaccarello wine concept

2004

<p style="text-align: justify;">The aim of the present work was to underline the existence of a sensory space relevant to Sciaccarello wines. Twenty-eight wines were selected for viticultural and enological characteristics, using 1/2 Sciaccarello/Non- Sciaccarello ratio. Sensory analyses (orthonasal then overall perceptions) were performed with a panel composed of seventeen judges. All of the judges were experienced in Sciaccarello wines knowledge. Statistical treatment by PCA was first carried out to display the consensus between the assessors. ANOVA was performed to discriminate accurate and inaccurate examples of Sciaccarello wines. This study demonstrated the existence of the sens…

Comparison of RK and confidence judgement ROCs in recognition memory.

2011

author cannot archive publisher's version/PDF; International audience; Several indicators have been used to differentiate familiarity and recollection processes. One dualist theory stipulates that it is possible to decide whether memories come from a feeling of knowing or from a conscious retrieval of the encoding and storage conditions (remembering). Another dualist theory is based on an indirect estimation of familiarity and recollection via the subjective confidence associated with recognition responses, and from an analysis of the derived receiver operating characteristics (ROC). In the present study, participants were presented with target words or faces that they subsequently had to r…

Relationship between cognitive and driving self-assessments in older drivers. Result of epidemiological and experimental on-road studies in france

2015

TRANSED 2015 - 14th International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Elderly and Disabled Persons, LISBONNE, PORTUGAL, 28-/07/2015 - 31/07/2015; Most older drivers are able to efficiently self-regulate their own driving practices, that means reducing driving exposure and avoiding the most challenging driving conditions such as driving at night or in poor weather or at complex intersections. We hypothesized that this self-regulation might exist only if older drivers have accurate insight into their own age-related functional and cognitive decline. This study aims to evaluate how well self-estimation of cognitive ability of older corresponds to their actual driving performance, as asses…

Comparing competing views of analogy making using eye-tracking technology

2016

International audience; We used eye-tracking to study the time course of analogical reasoning in adults. We considered proportions of looking times and saccades. The main question was whether or not adults would follow the same search strategies for different types of analogical problems (Scene Analogies vs. Classical A:B:C:D vs a Scene version of A:B::C:D). We then compared these results to the predictions of various models of analogical reasoning. Results revealed a picture of common search patterns with local adaptations to the specifics of each paradigm in both looking-time duration and the number and types of saccades. These results are discussed in terms of conceptions of analogical r…
