The multiaxial fatigue criteria based on the approach of the critical plane require the determination of the amplitude of the alternating shear stress τ aacting on different planes passing through the point of the material analyzed. In the case of non-proportional stresses the shear stress vector varies both in modulus and direction and its tip describes a curvedefined loading path. Improvements in the algorithms for the determination of the shear stress components in critical plane class fatigue criteria

This paper presents two improvements in the procedure for the evaluation of the amplitude and mean values of the shear stress in critical plane class fatigue criteria, when the method of the Minimum Circumscribed Circle (MCC) to the path of the tip of the vector is used. In particular, the paper shows how it is possible to reduce the number of material planes passing through the point of interest in which the MCC has to be determined and the number of points of each curve that has to be considered for the determination of the MCC, noticeably reducing the computational time.

This article describes the main results of an ethnographic study on citizen participation carried out in the context of the development of the Urban Initiative (2007-2015): Cuenca-Barrio de San Antón. Managed by the City Council of Cuenca and financed by the European Regional Development Funds (FEDER) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance at the Government of Spain The results of the research show how in the context of the application of neoliberal policies, citizen participation becomes the trigger for new conflicts between institutions and citizens. In recent years, leaf necrosis and twig dieback in the olive crop have been detected in Sicily (Italy). In this article, we identify the predominant fungal species associated with symptomatic leaves and twigs, using morphological features and DNA sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, as Alternaria alternata, Arthrinium phaeospermum, Phoma cladoniicola and Ulocladium consortiale. The pathogenicity of these four species was tested on olive plants cv. Biancolilla. All species were pathogenic on leaves, but only U. consortiale produced cortical lesions on twigs, thus suggesting its main role in the Olea europaea twig dieback. Abstract background Marketing pressures, regulatory policies, clinical guidelines, and consumer’s demand all affect health care providers' knowledge and use of health-related genetic tests sold and/or advertised to consumers. A survey on health care providers’ and consumers’ awareness, perceptions, and use of direct-to-consumer personal genomic tests, conducted in USA in 2008, suggested a strong need for education of health practitioners.
