A posteriori error estimates for variational problems in the theory of viscous fluids

The papers included in the thesis are focused on functional type a posteriori error estimates for the Stokes problem, the Stokes problem with friction type boundary conditions, the Oseen problem, and the anti-plane Bingham problem. In the summary of the thesis we consider only the Oseen problem. The papers present and justify special forms of these estimates which are suitable for the approximations generated by the Uzawa algorithm. The estimates are of two main types. Estimates of the first type use exact solutions obtained on the steps of the Uzawa algorithm. They show how errors encompassed in Uzawa approximations behave and have mainly theoretical meaning. Asymptotic Mean-Value Formulas for Solutions of General Second-Order Elliptic Equations

Abstract We obtain asymptotic mean-value formulas for solutions of second-order elliptic equations. Our approach is very flexible and allows us to consider several families of operators obtained as an infimum, a supremum, or a combination of both infimum and supremum, of linear operators. The families of equations that we consider include well-known operators such as Pucci, Issacs, and k-Hessian operators.

Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutustua kahteen tärkeään osittaisdifferentiaaliyhtälöön; Laplacen yhtälöön ja lämpöyhtälöön. Näitä molempia hyödynnetään fysiikan lisäksi useiden muidenkin tieteenalojen sovelluksissa. Lämpöyhtälö, joka tunnetaan myös diffuusioyhtälönä, kuvaa jonkin suureen esimerkiksi lämmön johtumista aineissa ajan kuluessa. Pitkän ajan kuluttua tilanne tasapainottuu, jolloin lämmön määrä pysyy ajan suhteen vakiona tarkasteltavan alueen joka pisteessä. Tällaista täysin stabiloitunutta tilannetta voidaan mallintaa Laplacen yhtälöllä. Laplacen yhtälön toteuttavia funktioita kutsutaan harmonisiksi funktioiksi. Cholesterol is prone to undergo oxidation and to generate oxysterols that have cytotoxic properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of oxysterols on cell viability, oxidative stress and inflammation and to measure oxysterol incorporation in primary porcine retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cell cultures. Phosphorylated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK), but not activated c-jun-N-terminal kinase (JNK), increases in the motor neurons of transgenic mice overexpressing ALS-linked SOD1 mutants at different stages of the disease. This effect is associated with a selective increase of phosphorylated MKK3-6, MKK4 and ASK1 and a concomitant upregulation of the TNFalpha receptors (TNFR1 and TNFR2), but not IL1beta and Fas receptors. Ethyl hexanoate transfer in paper and plastic food packaging by sorption and permeation experiments

The barrier properties of one treated paper packaging and one standard plastic film (bi-oriented polypropylene, biOPP) were assessed for ethyl hexanoate. Three methods based either on sorption (gravimetry and micro-atmosphere-derived method) or permeation kinetic determination were used in controlled conditions of aroma vapor concentration (107 Pa), temperature (25 degrees C) and relative humidity (about 0 %). Ethyl hexanoate solubility values were on the same range of magnitude for both packaging films in spite of their different nature and composition. Maģistra darbs Meksikas revolūcija un pilsoņu karš padomju un mūsdienu krievu historiogrāfijā pēta atšķirības tajās. Tas parāda, ka padomju historiogrāfijā personai nebija būtiskas lomas procesu attīstībā. Visu noteica šķiru cīņa, tās loģika saskaņā ar dialektiskā materiālisma principiem. Pilnīgi pretēji mūsdienu krievu historiogrāfijā tiek noliegta šķiru cīņas loma, tiek izcelta personības nozīme revolūcijas un pilsoņu kara notikumos un tiem sekojošā valsts stabilizācijā. Īpaša uzmanība maģistra darbā tiek pievērsta valsts un Baznīcas attiecībām, armijas reformai un agrāro problēmu risināšanai Meksikas revolūcijas un pilsoņu kara notikumos.

Projet "Associations entre bières et mets : de la perception au jugement des consommateurs en situation réelle de consommation".; Pairing beverages and dishes is part of culinary tradition. The objective is to identify the principles used by experts for pairing. Ten sommeliers and ten beer experts were presented with the description of a drink, either beer or wine. They were asked to suggest dishes to match the drink and explaining their choices. They performed the task with two beers and two wines.
