A multi-disciplinary team is currently working on trachyte, a volcanic rock from the Chaîne des Puys (French massif central), within a research program supported by the French ministry of Culture. Pantelleria Island is the type locality of pantellerite, an iron and alkali-rich rhyolite (P.I=molar Na2O+K2O/Al2O3 >1.05). Peralkaline rhyolites (i.e pantellerite and comendite) and trachytes usually represent the felsic end-members in continental rift systems (e.g., Pantelleria, Tibesti, Ethiopia, Afar, Kenya, Bain and Range, South Greenland) and in oceanic sland settings (Socorro Is., Easter Is., Iceland and Azores). Unwanted mental intrusions (UMIs) and their functional consequences had been proposed as symptom dimensions in current cognitive models of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Illness Anxiety/Hypochondriasis (IA/H) and Eating Disorders (EDs). The main purpose of this doctoral dissertation was to ascertain the transdiagnostic nature of UMIs, above and beyond their specific contents, i.e., obsessional, appearance defects, illness and death, and eating disorders-related. Frente al enfoque tradicional centrado en trastornos específicos, los modelos transdiagnósticos hipotetizan procesos y mecanismos compartidos por diversos trastornos psicológicos. En relación con los trastornos de ansiedad y los trastornos depresivos, entre los procesos comunes que más interés despiertan, se encuentra la regulación emocional (RE). Las estrategias de RE inicialmente se clasificaron como adaptativas o desaptativas en función de sus consecuencias.
