Quantitative lower bounds to the Euclidean and the Gaussian Cheeger constants

We provide a quantitative lower bound to the Cheeger constant of a set $\Omega$ in both the Euclidean and the Gaussian settings in terms of suitable asymmetry indexes. We provide examples which show that these quantitative estimates are sharp.
Parameter identification for heterogeneous materials by optimal control approach with flux cost functionals

The paper deals with the identification of material parameters characterizing components in heterogeneous geocomposites provided that the interfaces separating different materials are known. We use the optimal control approach with flux type cost functionals. Since solutions to the respective state problems are not regular, in general, the original cost functionals are expressed in terms of integrals over the computational domain using the Green formula. We prove the existence of solutions to the optimal control problem and establish convergence results for appropriately defined discretizations. Hemochromatosis Mimicked Gaucher Disease: Role of Hyperferritinemia in Evaluation of a Clinical Case.

Gaucher disease is a disorder of lysosomes caused by a functional defect of the glucocerebrosidase enzyme. The disease is mainly due to mutations in the GBA1 gene, which determines the gradual storage of glucosylceramide substrate in the patient’s macrophages. In this paper, we describe the case of a 38-year-old man who clinically presented with hyperferritinemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, anemia and mild splenomegaly; a diagnosis of hemochromatosis was made 10 years earlier. For just over five years, for the first time in our democratic history, the right of parliamentarians to collect documentation from public administrations has been judicialized in the contentious-administrative way. A cluster of cases with a single common focus: tense government-parliament relations in the Valencian Community.
