Trait self-control and self-discipline : Structure, validity, and invariance across national groups

The aim of the present study was to test the validity of the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS; Tangney, Baumeister and Boone 2004) including its dimensional structure based on competing one- and two-factor models, discriminant validity from the conceptually-related self-discipline construct, invariance across multiple samples from different national groups, and predictive validity with respect to health-related behaviors. Self-care and total care: the twofold return of care in twentieth-century thought

The paper studies two fundamentally different forms in which the concept of care makes its comeback in twentieth-century thought. We make use of a distinction made by Peter Sloterdijk, who argues that the ancient and medieval ‘ascetic’ ideal of self-enhancement through practice has re-emerged in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly in the form of a rehabilitation of the Hellenistic notion of self-care (epimeleia heautou) in Michel Foucault’s late ethics. Joint retirement behaviour and pension reform in the Netherlands

We examine the effects of a major pension reform in 2015 on the joint retirement decisions of working couples in the Netherlands. The reform abolished the partner allowance, a state pension supplement for a nonworking partner below the state pension age. At the same time, actuarially generous early retirement arrangements were made less attractive. In this paper, we prove a fixed point theorem of Sehgal type (see Sehgal, V.M., Proc Amer Math Soc 23: 631–634, 1969) in a more general setting of ρ-space (see Secelean, N.A. and Wardowski, D., Results Math, 72: 919–935, 2017). In this way, we can find, as particular cases, some results of Sehgal type in metric, b-metric and rectangular b-metric spaces.
Willingness to pay to improve urban water supply: the case of Sucre, Bolivia

In this study the contingent valuation method is applied in order to estimate the willingness to pay (WTP) of the inhabitants of Sucre (Bolivia) for an improvement in the urban water supply system. The study finds that about 55 per cent of households would be willing to pay an increase in their water bill for an improvement in the service. In order to deal with the problem of protest responses and the possible presence of a sample selection bias, a Heckman two-step model was estimated. Numerous studies have analyzed how home confinement have affected different gender gaps, including the gender gap related to chores within the home. AbstractThis article reviews a set of miniatures from domestic contexts in Iron Age eastern Iberia, and interprets them in terms of their role in forging social personae. After an introduction to the historical case under consideration, the miniatures are described in terms of their typology and their contexts of provenance are outlined. Though not abundant, they tend to occur in central places in the landscape; specifically, they are often found in houses of the powerful. The vast majority are miniatures of pottery and tools, though some miniature weapons are recorded.
