Josephson junctions and SQUIDs based on artificial grain boundaries in Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10 -thin films
1996
ABSTRACT High quality thin films of Bi2 Sr Ca2 Cu3 0 with critical temperatures of 95 K were used to prepare grainboundary josephson junctions on commercial 36.8° SrTiOg-bicrystal substrates. IR-products of 50 pV at 77 Kand 0.7 mV at 4.2 K have been reached. For temperatures higher than 50 K the current-voltage curves of thejunctions can be well described by the resistively shunted junction (RSJ) model and show no hysteresis. Fromthe hysteretic behavior at low temperature we estimate a junction capacitance of 2ljiF/cm2. The Fraunhoferpattern of the critical current in an external applied field shows, that the junctions are inhomogeneous on a pm scale. The SQUID modulation of a 30 x 40 pm2 w…

Pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu matemātisko priekšstatu veidošana rotaļā
2018
Kvalifikācijas darba tēma ir pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu matemātisko priekšstatu veidošana rotaļā. Autore izvēlējās rakstīt par pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem no 6 līdz 7 gadiem. Kvalifikācijas darbs sastāv no divām daļām. Pirmajā daļā autore teorētiski apskatīja pedagoģijas un psiholoģijas zinātnieku atziņas par matemātisko priekšstatu veidošanos 6 līdz 7 gadu veciem bērniem, raksturojot 7 gadus vecus bērnus un izpētot matemātisko priekšstatu veidošanos 6 līdz 7 gadus veciem bērniem. Otrajā daļā autore praktiski izpētīja matemātisko priekšstatu veidošanos un to sekmēšanu pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem, posmā no 6 līdz 7 gadiem. Kvalifikācijas darbā ir izdarīti secinājumi un izveidoti priekšlikumi par…
Immunity, resistance and tolerance in bird-parasite interactions.
2013
12 pages; International audience; Interacting pathogens and hosts have evolved reciprocal adaptations whose function is to allow host exploitation (from the pathogen stand point) or minimize the cost of infection (from the host stand point). Once infected, two strategies are offered to the host: parasite clearing (resistance) or withstanding the infection while paying a low fitness cost (tolerance). In both cases, the immune system plays a central role. Interestingly, whatever the defence strategy adopted by the host, this is likely to have an effect on parasite evolution. Given their short generation time and large population size, parasites are expected to rapidly adapt to the environment…
A NEW PLUNGER DEVICE FOR INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTS OF DEFORMATION ON PROTON EMISSION RATES VIA LIFETIME MEASUREMENTS
2013
A new plunger device has been designed and built to measure the lifetimes of unbound states in exotic nuclei beyond the proton drip-line. The device is designed to work in both vacuum and dilute-gas environments made possible through the introduction of a lowvoltage piezoelectric motors. The differential plunger for unbound nuclear states, DPUNS, will be used in conjunction with the gas-filled separator RITU and the vacuum separator MARA at the accelerator laboratory of the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland, to measure the lifetimes of excited states with low population cross-sections. This is achieved by eliminating the need for a carbon foil to isolate the helium gas of RITU from the beam …
“Podalirius” o “Polidarius”? Da Arrigo da Settimello a Guido delle Colonne
2016
This paper is dedicated to the defence of the variant "Polidarius" (and not the correction in the vulgate "Podalirius") that occurs in all the manuscripts of Henry of Septimello's «Elegia» (book IV, line 209). "Polidarius", however, has many attestations in Medieval Troy literary tradition (Joseph of Exeter, Benoît de Sainte-Maure, Guido delle Colonne) and is an alternative, correct and good name for the famous mythical doctor, son of Asclepius and brother of Machaon.
INTEGRAL/SPI ground calibration
2003
Three calibration campaigns of the spectrometer SPI have been performed before launch in order to determine the instrument characteristics, such as the effective detection area, the spectral resolution and the angular resolution. Absolute determination of the effective area has been obtained from simulations and measurements. At 1 MeV, the effective area is 65 cm^2 for a point source on the optical axis, the spectral resolution ~2.3 keV. The angular resolution is better than 2.5 deg and the source separation capability about 1 deg. Some temperature dependant parameters will require permanent in-flight calibration.
Joseph Conrad-Korzeniowski, an English Writer with a Polish Soul: Joseph Conrad’s Polish Heritage
2018
The article presents a portrait of Joseph Conrad-Korzeniowski, an English writer with a Polish soul. Conrad—the last Polish Romantic—did not only manage to introduce Polish dreams and longings into English (and Western) literature, but also transformed the Polish experience into a universal one. Writing about exotic, faraway places, he disseminated myths concerning Polish national identity, chivalric tradition and the Polish Eastern Borderland atmosphere and ethos. Conrad, a very demanding writer, never presents ready-made answers, nor does he offer simple solutions to the problems of his protagonists. Moreover, everybody can understand Conrad in their own personal way, for he is perceived …
Antoniego Zabłockiego relacja o pobycie Katarzyny II i Józefa II w Chersoniu i na Krymie w roku 1787
2022
From July 1784 to mid-1792, a Polish trade and diplomatic post operated in Kherson (until the spring of 1788), and then in Mirgorod, in the Black Sea territories of the Russian Empire. From mid-1784 until the end of 1791, Antoni Zabłocki, a former soldier of the Crown Army, the Bar Confederate, and an exile in Russia, was the head of the facility, and from the summer-autumn 1786, the consul. He did not have any diplomatic preparation, and his qualifications were limited to the knowledge of the Russian language and the realities of social and economic life in the tsarist state, as well as to close contacts with the surroundings of King Stanisław August. This secured him a job as a royal agen…
