The role of caregiver in inclusion processes of separated children: linguistic and psycho-pedagogical reflections.

2016

Great attention has been paid to human rights protection of separated children. One example is given by the several editions of Statement of Good Practice (SCEP) that provide a straightforward account of the policies and practices required to implement and protect the human rights of separated children. Nevertheless, when coming into terms with the various needs of separated children, various difficulties are experienced linked to the unawareness of the implications linguistic and cultural diversity may have. In building a framework for action and advocacy not only one has to be linguistically skilled but also aware of how a particular society works and that language implies culture, societ…

FATTORI ASSOCIATI ALLA DISCORDANZA TRA ALTERAZIONI DELLA PULSE WAVE VELOCITY AORTICA E AUMENTO DELLO SPESSORE MIO-INTIMALE CAROTIDEO IN SOGGETTI IPER…

2014

So…

Semi-blind Independent Component Analysis of functional MRI elicited by continuous listening to music

2013

This study presents a method to analyze blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) functional magnetic resonance imaging (tMRI) signals associated with listening to continuous music. Semi-blind independent component analysis (ICA) was applied to decompose the tMRI data to source level activation maps and their respective temporal courses. The unmixing matrix in the source separation process of ICA was constrained by a variety of acoustic features derived from the piece of music used as the stimulus in the experiment. This allowed more stable estimation and extraction of more activation maps of interest compared to conventional ICA methods.

Mannoprotein of the yeast cell wall as primary receptor for the killer toxin of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 28.

1987

The killer toxin KT 28 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 28 is primarily bound to the mannoprotein of the cell wall of sensitive yeasts. The mannoprotein of S. cerevisiae X 2180 was purified; gel filtration and SDS-PAGE indicated an estimated Mr of 185,000. The ability to bind killer toxin KT 28 increased during purification of the mannoprotein. Removing the protein part of the mannoprotein by enzymic digestion or removing the alkali-labile oligosaccharide chains by beta-elimination did not destroy the ability to bind killer toxin KT 28. However, binding activity was lost when the 1,6-alpha-linkages of the outer carbohydrate backbone were hydrolysed by acetolysis. The separated oligomannos…

The early immune response in the liver of BALB/c mice infected with S. typhimurium.

2000

Gram-negative bacteria acquired through gastrointestinal infection can be a serious cause for the development of septic shock especially in immunosuppressed patients. Thus, the aim of this study was to examine the early events of the immune reaction against S. typhimurium. Bacteria were injected into mice at different concentrations. Four animals from each group were killed at five different points of time. Liver cytokine mRNA expression was determined by semiquantitative rt-PCR and liver histology was examined. Serum cytokine levels of interferon (IFN)-gamma, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-4 and IL-10 were determined. intravenous (i.v.) infection with 109 bacteri…

L’archéologue classique aux prises avec le monde diplomatique. Le cas de Salomon Reinach en 1881

2017

Classical Archeology Clashing with the World of Diplomacy: the Case of Salomon Reinach in 1881 Studies on the ties between archeology and diplomacy focus mostly on the way a few individuals reconciled a double career and realized the ideal of a hybrid figure: the diplomat as archeologist. Less attention has been paid to the relations, on a daily basis, between classical archeology and the world of consulates and embassies in the Eastern Mediterranean. Most of the time, one relies on the widespread cliché of the archeologist as a victim of bureaucracy. The case studied here is that of Salomon Reinach (1858-1932) and his abundant correspondence, held by the bibliothèque Méjanes (Aix-en-Proven…

Analysis of primary aliphatic short-chain monoamines by LC in water samples

2003

Abstract Several derivatization procedures with o-phthaldialdehyde-N-acetylcysteine (OPA-NAC) were compared for a rapid analysis of primary aliphatic short-chain monoamines in water samples by HPLC using a LiChorospher analytical separation column (100RP18 125 mm ×4  mm i.d., 5 μm). Both the solution and the solid-support assisted off-line derivatization on C18 SPE cartridges were inadequate options because of beginning degradation processes of the instable isoindol derivatives during their transfer to the analytical column. This problem was precluded with the on-column or solid-support assisted on-line derivatization. In the last mentioned procedure, the derivatization took place in a Hype…

San Giuseppe. Una festa di capodanno

2012

La festa di san Giuseppe presenta strutture iterative e simboli rituali che ne denunziano il suo carattere di festa di capodanno. Tale funzione rifondativa del cosmo naturale e sociale è ancora ben leggibile in diversi contesti siciliani.
