Regularization of perturbed state-dependent sweeping processes with nonregular sets

2018

International audience; In this paper, we prove the convergence strongly pointwisely (up to a subsequence) of Moreau-Yosida regularization of perturbed state-dependent sweeping process with nonregular (subsmooth and positively alpha-far) sets in separable Hilbert spaces. Some relevant consequences are indicated.

Coherence Checking and Propagation of Lower Probability Bounds

2003

In this paper we use imprecise probabilities, based on a concept of generalized coherence (g-coherence), for the management of uncertain knowledge and vague information. We face the problem of reducing the computational difficulties in g-coherence checking and propagation of lower conditional probability bounds. We examine a procedure, based on linear systems with a reduced number of unknowns, for the checking of g-coherence. We propose an iterative algorithm to determine the reduced linear systems. Based on the same ideas, we give an algorithm for the propagation of lower probability bounds. We also give some theoretical results that allow, by suitably modifying our algorithms, the g-coher…

Immunomodulating role of bisphosphonates on human gamma delta T cells: an intriguing and promising aspect of their antitumour activity.

2007

Vgamma9Vdelta2 T cells have the ability to produce inflammatory cytokines involved in protective immunity against intracellular pathogens and tumours and to display strong cytolytic as well as bactericidal activities. This suggests a direct involvement of Vgamma9Vdelta2 T lymphocytes in immune control of cancer and infections. These observations have recently aided development of novel immunotherapeutic approaches aimed at Vgamma9Vdelta2 T cell activation. Nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates (N-BPs) play a crucial role in Vgamma9Vdelta2 T lymphocyte activation and in the acquisition of effector functions. The preliminary results of these innovative strategies are encouraging. Moreover, comp…

An organelle-specific protein landscape identifies novel diseases and molecular mechanisms.

2016

Cellular organelles provide opportunities to relate biological mechanisms to disease. Here we use affinity proteomics, genetics and cell biology to interrogate cilia: poorly understood organelles, where defects cause genetic diseases. Two hundred and seventeen tagged human ciliary proteins create a final landscape of 1,319 proteins, 4,905 interactions and 52 complexes. Reverse tagging, repetition of purifications and statistical analyses, produce a high-resolution network that reveals organelle-specific interactions and complexes not apparent in larger studies, and links vesicle transport, the cytoskeleton, signalling and ubiquitination to ciliary signalling and proteostasis. We observe sub…

Probabilistic foundations of contextuality

2017

Contextuality is usually defined as absence of a joint distribution for a set of measurements (random variables) with known joint distributions of some of its subsets. However, if these subsets of measurements are not disjoint, contextuality is mathematically impossible even if one generally allows (as one must) for random variables not to be jointly distributed. To avoid contradictions one has to adopt the Contextuality-by-Default approach: measurements made in different contexts are always distinct and stochastically unrelated to each other. Contextuality is reformulated then in terms of the (im)possibility of imposing on all the measurements in a system a joint distribution of a particul…

Some invariant biorthogonal sets with an application to coherent states

2014

We show how to construct, out of a certain basis invariant under the action of one or more unitary operators, a second biorthogonal set with similar properties. In particular, we discuss conditions for this new set to be also a basis of the Hilbert space, and we apply the procedure to coherent states. We conclude the paper considering a simple application of our construction to pseudo-hermitian quantum mechanics.

Self-affine sets with fibered tangents

2016

We study tangent sets of strictly self-affine sets in the plane. If a set in this class satisfies the strong separation condition and projects to a line segment for sufficiently many directions, then for each generic point there exists a rotation $\mathcal O$ such that all tangent sets at that point are either of the form $\mathcal O((\mathbb R \times C) \cap B(0,1))$, where $C$ is a closed porous set, or of the form $\mathcal O((\ell \times \{ 0 \}) \cap B(0,1))$, where $\ell$ is an interval.

On a class of compactly epi-Lipschitzian sets

2003

The paper is devoted to the study of the so-called compactly epi-Lipschitzian sets. These sets are needed for many aspects of generalized differentiation, particulary for necessary optimality conditions, stability of mathematical programming problems and calculus rules for subdifferentials and normal cones. We present general conditions under which sets defined by general constraints are compactly epi-Lipschitzian. This allows us to show how the compact epi-Lipschitzness properties behave under set intersections.

SURVEY Towards a global view of dynamical systems, for the C1-topology

2011

AbstractThis paper suggests a program for getting a global view of the dynamics of diffeomorphisms, from the point of view of the C1-topology. More precisely, given any compact manifold M, one splits Diff1(M) into disjoint C1-open regions whose union is C1-dense, and conjectures state that each of these open sets and their complements is characterized by the presence of: •either a robust local phenomenon;•or a global structure forbidding this local phenomenon. Other conjectures state that some of these regions are empty. This set of conjectures draws a global view of the dynamics, putting in evidence the coherence of the numerous recent results on C1-generic dynamics.
