Rehabilitation of the atrophic posterior maxilla with pterygoid implants: a review.
2012
The purpose of this article is to review the literature published and to assess the success of treatment of patients with atrophic posterior maxilla with pterygoid implants. Studies from 1992 to 2009 on patients with atrophic posterior maxilla rehabilitated with pterygoid implants were reviewed. Those reporting clinical series of at least 5 patients with atrophic posterior maxilla (Class IV and V of Cawood and Howell), rehabilitated with pterygoid implants and fixed prosthesis, and with 12 months minimum follow-up were included. In each study the following were assessed: number of patients, number of implants, surgical technique, prosthetic rehabilitation, success rate, bone loss, complica…
HOLONIC PRODUCTION SYSTEM TO OBTAIN FLEXIBILITY FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
2008
The Holonic Production System (HPS) can be a valid choice to overcome the problems of traditional production sys-tems’ architectures, thanks to its capability to adapt and react to changes in the business environment whilst being able to maintain systemic synergies and coordination. The HPS is made of holons seen as functional production units which are simultaneously autonomous and cooperative. Although the holonic approach could represent a valid solution in order to pursue the necessary levels of agility of production systems, they have been scarcely implemented in practice and even less studied from a business studies perspective. The purpose of this discussion paper is to show the bene…
RELATIONSHIP’S SATISFACTION CONNECTION WITH THE MOTIVATION OF FORGIVENESS
2020
The purpose of the study was to investigate whether there is a relationship betweenthe motivation of forgiveness and satisfaction with the partnership in spouses. The study was attended by 300 married respondents: 180 women and 120 men (M = 39.29, SD = 10.7). Groups were matched according to the following criteria: age (19-60 years); married. To measure motivation of forgiveness, an interpersonal motivation survey related to abuse was used: the version of 18 statements (Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Inventory; TRIM-18; McCullough et al. 1998; McCullough; Root & Cohen; 2006; adaptation in Latvian by S. Brudere -Ruska and V. Perepjolkina, 2012) and couples’ satisfaction …
Discovering temporal relationships in databases of newspapers
1998
This paper is mainly dedicated to analyse the problem of discovering frequent temporal patterns in event sequences extracted from a large repository of newspapers. The proposed formalism and algorithms rely on Toodor, which is a document retrieval system that allows users to specify conditions over the structure, contents and temporal features of the stored documents. We develop in this work several algorithms for recognising frequent temporal patterns in terms of arc-consistency, which consist of discarding temporal occurrences that do not satisfy a temporal structure.

The Role of a Supportive Interpersonal Environment and Education-Related Goal Motivation During the Transition Beyond Upper Secondary Education
2018
This longitudinal study investigated the role of parents and peers as well as of education-related goal motivation during educational transitioning in late adolescence. The sample consisted of 1520 upper secondary education students attending either academic or vocational upper secondary school in Finland. They were surveyed three times: (1) in the first year of their upper secondary education, (2) in the second year of their upper secondary education, and (3) two years later. The results show, first, that when students in upper secondary education pursued their educational goals out of autonomous motivation they also invested more effort in their goals, which was reflected in high levels o…
Player performance, satisfaction, and video game enjoyment
2009
An experiment (N = 74) was conducted to investigate the impact of game difficulty and player performance on game enjoyment. Participants played a First Person Shooter game with systematically varied levels of difficulty. Satisfaction with performance and game enjoyment were assessed after playing. Results are not fully in line with predictions derived from flow and attribution theory and suggest players to (1) change their view on their own performance with its implications for enjoyment with increasing game experience and (2) to switch strategically between different sources of fun, thus maintaining a (somewhat) positive experience even when performance-based enjoyment is low.

METHODS: Baseline results are re…
Subjective Health and Subjective Well-Being (The Case of EU Countries)
2014
Article presents the concept of subjective health in the context of the structure of subjective well-being. We emphasize the structural link between satisfaction with health as a life domain and satisfaction with a life as a whole within cognitive part of subjective well-being. To explain the link between life satisfaction as a whole and satisfaction with health we apply Needs Conceptual Model of Subjective Well-Being and bottom-up approach. We recognize that objective life domains—life circumstances are mirrored and evaluated by human consciousness. The more or less favourable objective life circumstances are, the better or worse is the satisfaction with them by an individual. From the ver…
Use of Calcined Dolomite as Chemical Precipitant in the Simultaneous Removal of Ammonium and Phosphate from Synthetic Wastewater and from Agricultura…
2019
Phosphorus as phosphate and nitrogen as ammonium or nitrate are the main nutrients in wastewaters and agricultural sludges. They runoff easily to waterways and cause eutrophication in water bodies. However, ammonium and phosphate could be precipitated simultaneously and used as recycled nutrients. In this research, dolomite calcined at 650 °
