Optimal reconfiguration of weakly meshed distribution systems

In this paper the problem of optimal reconfiguration for weakly meshed systems is dealt with; meshes are created by the presence of Favoured Customers (FC) requiring supply through two different paths in order to guarantee the maximum service continuity. Aim of the reconfiguration is to attain a network that operates with minimum power losses, and in order to account for particular needs of the FC loads, that shows the minimum overall yearly fault rate on the branches where the power required by the loads flows. Questo lavoro analizza le valenze paradigmatiche assunte dalla sua figura nella memoria civica siracusana e nella produzione storiografica; inoltre ricostruisce le dinamiche politiche che hanno spinto i principali tiranni siracusani (da Dionisio I a Ierone II) a stabilire un confronto con Gelone. This work analyses the paradigmatic value taken on by his figure in the civic memory of the people of Syracuse and in historiographic production. It also reconstructs the political dynamics which pushed the principal tyrants of Syracuse (from Dionysius I to Hiero II) to establish comparisons with Gelon. His exemplum was used to legitimate political actions and commitment against the Carthaginianparticular attention was also given to the Library of History of Diodorus Siculus and the role that the figure of Dinomenid assumes in itregarding these aspects the work of this author seems to have sometimes the signs of a personal interpretation of history: one that cannot always be explained in relation to the use of the two principal sources for Western history Timaeus and Philistos.

Il tarantismo in Sicilia

Il testo prende in esame il complesso di materiali editi e inediti (fonti storiche e archivistiche, documenti musicali, testimonianze etnografiche) che attestano la presenza del tarantismo in Sicilia dalla metà del Seicento alla fine dell’Ottocento. Il caso siciliano viene quindi inquadrato nell’ambito dell’ampia letteratura che ruota intorno al fenomeno, a partire dal classico studio di Ernesto De Martino fino al dibattito sull’interpretazione del fenomeno fra i poli dell’esorcismo e della possessione, dovuto soprattutto all’etnomusicologo francese Gilber Rouget. Settore L-ART/08 - EtnomusicologiaThe text examines published and unpublished materials – such as historical and ethnographic sources archive records and musical documents – which testify the presence of tarantism in Sicily from mid-17th century to the end of the 19th. The Sicilian case is then considered in a wider context of contributions on the theme starting from the ‘classic’ De Martino’work up to the debate on the interpretation of the phenomenon between the poles of exorcism and possession chiefly rased by French ethnomusicologist Gilbert Rouget. The analyses is therefore expanded to the tradition of snakes bites healers (the ciaràuli) which shares with tarantism the spider symbolism and to certain kinds of religious processions characterised by frantic ‘dances’ which suggest elements of functional continuity with tarantism musical-choreutic therapy.

Solitary Necrotic Nodule of the Liver: Different Pathological Findings Express a Different Histogenesis

Solitary necrotic nodule of the liver is a rare benign lesion the histogenesis of which is still debated. We here report the case of a patient who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones and who was accidentally found to have a solitary necrotic nodule of 2 cm in the fifth segment of the liver. On the basis of the histological findings, the hypothesis that different pathogenetic mechanisms could be involved in the histogenesis of this lesion is discussed.

Sulphur Stored in Forest Soils and the Relative Importance of Organic and Inorganic Forms. Examples from Mont-Lozère (Southern Massif Central)

From studies initiated in 1981, the mean annual hydrochemical budget established in three experiment watersheds at Mont-Lozere demonstrated that sulphur is retained in soils and in arenaceous formations (Lelong et al. 1990). Soils were developed on weathered granite materials that were strongly reworked by periglacial processes. One watershed is covered with grasses (Bassin de la Cloutasse) and the two others by forest. A beech coppice (Fagus sylvatica L.) and a Norway spruce forest (Picea abies (L.) A criterion for entanglement in two two-level systems

We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for the occurrence of entanglement in two two-level systems, simple enough to be of experimental interest. Our results are illustrated in the context of a spin star system analyzing the exact entanglement evolution of the central couple of spins.

Clerodane diterpenoids from Salvia splendens.

Four new clerodane diterpenoids, salvisplendins A-D (1-4), have been isolated from an acetone extract of the flowers of SalVia splendens, together with an artifact (5), arising from salvisplendin D (4) by addition of diazomethane, and the already known clerodane olearin (6). The structures of the new compounds (1-5) were established mainly by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies and, in the case of salvisplendin A (1), by chemical correlation with splenolide B (7). Complete 1H and 13C NMR assignments for olearin (6), not published hitherto, are also reported.

For decades, disintegrin and metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM17) has been the object of deep investigation. Since its discovery as the tumor necrosis factor convertase, it has been considered a major drug target, especially in the context of inflammatory diseases and cancer. Per studiare dal punto di vista della geografia culturale alcuni aspetti del pellegrinaggio a Santiago de Compostela, in Spagna, il capitolo prende in considerazione un testo letterario, il romanzo autobiografico "La ballata dei pellegrini" della scrittrice francese Edith De La Héronnière, pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1993 e tradotto in italiano nel 2004. Il romanzo racconta l’esperienza del pellegrinaggio giacobeo effettuato dall’autrice negli anni Novanta assieme a tre compagni di viaggio partendo da un cammino francese. The contribution critically and from a geographical perspective discusses the connection between propaganda comics and cartoons in the period of twentieth-century totalitarianisms. The way in which space real and symbolic is implicated through the rhetoric and dialectics of power in social economic and identity dynamics is then explored. In order to study some aspects of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela from the point of view of cultural geography in Spain the chapter takes into consideration a literary text the autobiographical novel "The pilgrims' ballad" by the French writer Edith De La Héronnière first published in 1993 and translated into Italian in 2004. The novel recounts the experience of the Jacobean pilgrimage carried out by the author in the nineties together with three traveling companions starting from a French journey. In particular through the analysis of some parts of the text the ways in which the narration constructs and describes the physical and symbolic space of the pilgrimage are investigated. In this way it is possible to explore the way in which peculiar attributions of meaning inscribe the experience of pilgrimage in a symbolic universe that is both personal and collective at the same time.
