Residential segregation of foreigners: an analysis of the Italian city of Palermo

Ethnic residential segregation in Italy is an emerging key question, which will be crucial in the definition and implementation of both urbanistic and social policies. This paper focuses on this phenomenon in the Italian city of Palermo. We use individual data for all the population residing in the city at 31 December 2011, organized by ethnicity and district. Firstly, we describe the spatial distribution and the residential segregation of foreigners in the city, applying many different segregation measures. Las trayectorias habitacionales de los residentes suburbanos

The suburban housing is a privileged urban form by French households for several decades. Nevertheless, the suburban residential trajectories are diversified and involve a population which is not less heterogeneous. From the literature and our field work, this contribution returns on the interests of residential trajectories approach and highlights the factors which connect the set of the inhabitants who, at one time or another of their trajectory, opted for this type of individual housing. Leaning on some discriminating variables (social, occupational, economic, life cycle…), a typology of suburban will come to conclude this article.

Alla luce degli studi più recenti, mirati ad attenuare le difficoltà dell’indagine storiografica sul tema delle residenze nobiliari d’età barocca in Sicilia, risulta possibile delineare nuovi quadri di riferimento da cui ripartire per una più attenta lettura della produzione architettonica del periodo in esame. Il fenomeno delle nuove fondazioni del XVII secolo, patrocinate da un ristretto gruppo di nobili siciliani, portò ad attuare in tutto il territorio isolano ambiziosi programmi costruttivi. Residual a posteriori error estimation for frictional contact with Nitsche method

We consider frictional contact problems in small strain elasticity discretized with finite elements and Nitsche method. Both bilateral and unilateral contact problems are taken into account, as well as both Tresca and Coulomb models for the friction. We derive residual a posteriori error estimates for each friction model, following [Chouly et al, IMA J. Numer. Anal. (38) 2018, pp. 921-954]. For the incomplete variant of Nitsche, we prove an upper bound for the dual norm of the residual, for Tresca and Coulomb friction, without any extra regularity and without a saturation assumption. Mapping of Biomass Residues for Potential Energy Generation from the Wine-Growing Sector in the Provinces of Palermo and Trapani

This paper is based on results obtained during the project Vienergy (Interreg Italia-Malta programme 2007-2013) and contains data on the potential energy generation of biomass residues following pruning from vineyards located within the provinces of Trapani and Palermo. Analysis of the energy potential, following microgasification tests and heat production related to the biomass, included a preliminary mapping of vineyards in the area and an assessment of the total biomass available.
