International audience; The laser beam weldability of acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (ABS) plates is determined by combining both experimental and theoretical aspects. In modeling the process, an optical model is used to determine how the laser beam is attenuated by the first material and to obtain the laser beam profile at the interface. Using this information as the input data to a thermal model, the evolution of the temperature field within the two components can be estimated. A singular elliptic equation and a related functional

We study a class of Dirichlet boundary value problems whose prototype is [see formula in PDF] where 0 < p < 1 and f belongs to a suitable Lebesgue space. The main features of this problem are the presence of a singular term |u|p−2u and a datum f which possibly changes its sign. We introduce a notion of solution in this singular setting and we prove an existence result for such a solution. The motivation of our notion of solution to problem above is due to a minimization problem for a non–differentiable functional on [see formula in PDF] whose formal Euler–Lagrange equation is an equation of that type. For nonnegative solutions a uniqueness result is obtained.

Registration of Surfaces Minimizing Error Propagation for a One-Shot Multi-Slit Hand-Held Scanner

We propose an algorithm for the on-line automatic registration of multiple 3D surfaces acquired in a sequence by a new hand-held laser scanner. The laser emitter is coupled with an optical lens that spreads the light forming 19 parallel slits that are projected to the scene and acquired with subpixel accuracy by a camera. Splines are used to interpolate the acquired profiles to increase the sample of points and Delaunay triangulation is used to obtain the normal vectors at every point. International audience; A sampled-data observer is proposed for linear continuous-time systems whose outputs are sequentially sampled via non-uniform sampling intervals repeating a prescribed Round-Robin sequence. With constant sampling intervals (jitter-free case) we provide constructive necessary and sufficient conditions for the design of an asymptotic continuous-discrete observer whose estimation error is input-to-state stable (ISS) from process disturbances and measurement noise. An algebraic approach for human posture estimation in the sagittal plane using accelerometer noisy signal

International audience; Our aim is to develop an algebraic approach to estimate human posture in the sagittal plane using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) providing accelerations and angular velocities. To do it so, we address the issue of the estimation of the amplitude, frequency and phase of a biased and noisy sum of three sinusoidal waveform signals on a moving time horizon. Since the length of the time window is small, the estimation must be done within a fraction of the signal's period. The problem is solved via algebraic techniques (see [38] for the theoretical part concerning this problem). The efficiency of our approach is illustrated by computer simulations.
Scale invariant line matching on the sphere

International audience; This paper proposes a novel approach of line matching across images captured by different types of cameras, from perspective to omnidirectional ones. Based on the spherical mapping, this method utilizes spherical SIFT point features to boost line matching and searches line correspondences using an affine invariant measure of similarity. It permits to unify the commonest cameras and to process heterogeneous images with the least distortion of visual information.

We consider a population of dynamic agents, also referred to as players. The state of each player evolves according to a linear stochastic differential equation driven by a Brownian motion and under the influence of a control and an adversarial disturbance. Electro-hydraulic compact drives (ECDs) are an emerging technology for linear actuation in a wide range of applications. Especially within the low power range of 5–10 kW, the plug-and-play capability, good energy efficiency and small space requirements of ECDs render this technology a promising alternative to replace conventional valve-controlled linear drive solutions. In this power range, ECDs generally rely on passive cooling to keep oil and system temperatures within the tolerated range. When expanding the application range to larger power classes, passive cooling may not be sufficient. In less prescriptive environments where individuals are told ‘what to do’\ud but not ‘how to do’, synchronization can be a byproduct of strategic thinking,\ud prediction, and local interactions. We prove this in the context of multipopulation\ud robust mean-field games. The model sheds light on a multi-scale\ud phenomenon involving fast synchronization within the same population and\ud slow inter-cluster oscillation between different populations.
