A study of Type B uncertainties associated with the photoelectric effect in low-energy Monte Carlo simulations

The goal of this manuscript is to estimate Type B uncertainties in absorbed-dose calculations arising from the different implementations in current state-of-the-art Monte Carlo codes of low-energy photon cross-sections (<200 keV). Monte Carlo simulations are carried out using three codes widely used in the low-energy domain: PENELOPE-2018, EGSnrc, and MCNP. Mass energy-absorption coefficients for water, air, graphite, and their respective ratios; absorbed dose; and photon-fluence spectra are considered. Study of scintillation light collection, production and propagation in a 4 tonne dual-phase LArTPC

The $3 \times 1 \times 1$ m$^3$ demonstrator is a dual phase liquid argon time projection chamber that has recorded cosmic rays events in 2017 at CERN. The light signal in these detectors is crucial to provide precise timing capabilities. The performances of the photon detection system, composed of five PMTs, are discussed. The collected scintillation and electroluminescence light created by passing particles has been studied in various detector conditions. In particular, the scintillation light production and propagation processes have been analyzed and compared to simulations, improving the understanding of some liquid argon properties.
Experimental generalized quantum suppression law in Sylvester interferometers

Photonic interference is a key quantum resource for optical quantum computation, and in particular for so-called boson sampling machines. In interferometers with certain symmetries, genuine multiphoton quantum interference effectively suppresses certain sets of events, as in the original Hong-Ou-Mandel effect. Recently, it was shown that some classical and semi-classical models could be ruled out by identifying such suppressions in Fourier interferometers. Starting from the results regarding a nonvacuum technique to fabricate CIGS thin films for solar cells by means of single-step electrodeposition, we focus on the methodological problems of modeling at cell structure and photovoltaic module levels. As a matter of fact, electrodeposition is known as a practical alternative to costly vacuum-based technologies for semiconductor processing in the photovoltaic device sector, but it can lead to quite different structural and electrical properties. Experimental test of the performances of a photovoltaic modules model

In this paper, a measurement-based modeling technique for PV panels oriented to power electronics design is proposed. The proposed modelling approach aims at an accurate modeling of the whole PV curve and not only around a few remarkable points. The proposed approach is based on an experimental characterization of the module under test. In fact, the incompleteness of manufacturers' data and the knowledge of physical parameters are the main source of inaccuracy in existing modelling approaches. Quel rapport émotionnel un individu entretient-il avec son habitat ? Un jeu de simulation de négociation entre les différents critères d’évaluation de l’environnement résidentiel permet de recueillir un corpus de données. Son analyse implique une réflexion sur la formalisation des résultats obtenus. Deux options sont confrontées : une représentation en graphe polaire et une image composée de pictogrammes symbolisant les multiples dimensions de l’espace résidentiel qui peuvent motiver les choix d’installation. Cette dernière image permet une appréhension plus simple du lien entre les structures spatiales, cognitives et sociales.
DM-like anomalies in neutron multiplicity spectra

Abstract A new experiment collects data, since November 2019, at a depth of 210 m.w.e. in the Callio Lab in the Pyhasalmi mine in Finland. The setup, called NEMESIS (New Emma MEasurementS Including neutronS), incorporates infrastructure from the EMMA experiment with neutron and large-area plastic scintillator detectors. The experiment’s primary aim is to combine muon tracking with position-sensitive neutron detection to measure precision yields, multiplicities, and lateral distributions of high-multiplicity neutron events induced by cosmic muons in various materials. Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kādas sakarības pastāv starp tēvu iesaisti pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu aprūpē un audzināšanā, vecāku depresijas simptomiem un bērnu uzvedības problēmām. Pētījuma respondenti bija bioloģiskie vecāki bērnam bez hroniskas saslimšanas un attīstības traucējumiem, vecumā no 3 līdz 5 gadiem, kas dzīvo kopā, un pētījuma veikšanas brīdī bija sasnieguši vismaz 21 gada vecumu. Pētījumā piedalījās 110 vecāku pāri, kuros 110 bija mātes vecumā no 23 līdz 49 gadiem (M=34,94, SD=4,57) un 110 bija tēvi vecumā no 27 līdz 59 gadiem (M=36,89, SD=5,82).
