Narrative Tensions in Strained Elite Junior Performers' Experiences of Becoming Elite Performers
2021
Tidsskrift, Peer reviewed Contextualized within narrative theory and the field of talent identification and development systems (TIDS), this interview study examined strained junior elite performers’ experiences of becoming elite performers while participating in prestigious national TIDS. The study explored how junior elite performers perceive and negotiate their personal narratives of becoming within a cultural master narrative of being. The focus is on how the quality of person-environment interaction, characterized by narrative alignment or tensions, relates to perceptions of identity, agency, physical, and mental health. We purposefully recruited eight participants (Mage = 17.31, SD = …
Cardiorespiratory fitness is associated with drop out from sport in Norwegian adolescents
2020
Several studies indicate that participation in organized sport may result in higher physical activity levels among youth which are associated with high levels of cardiorespiratory fitness. However, no study has examined whether cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2peak) is associated with drop out from sport. The study was a 5-year longitudinal study which followed a sample of adolescents, with measures of cardiorespiratory fitness, weight and height between the age of 14 and 19 yrs. Self-reported data about participation in sport, active commuting and physical activity level were also included. Through logistic regression analyses we found a positive association between cardiorespiratory fitness …
Effects of Including Sprints in One Weekly Low-Intensity Training Session During the Transition Period of Elite Cyclists
2020
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of including 30-s sprints in one weekly low-intensity training (LIT) session during a 3-week transition period in elite cyclists. Sixteen male elite cyclists (maximal oxygen uptake, VO2max: 72 ± 5 ml·kg−1·min−1) reduced their training load by ~60% for 3 weeks from the end of competitive season and performed only LIT or included 30-s sprints (SPR) in one weekly LIT-session. Performance and physiological capacities were evaluated during a prolonged (~2.5 h) test-session, including a strength test, a submaximal blood lactate profile test, an incremental test to exhaustion to determine VO2max, 1 h continuous cycling including four maximal…
Is It Possible to Predict an Athlete’s Behavior? The Use of Polar Coordinates to Identify Key Patterns in Taekwondo
2019
Elite sport psychologists help athletes develop planned competition strategies from a technical-tactical perspective, through the observation and analysis of previous performances. The aim of this study was to analyze the behavioral patterns used to score points in the 2012 London Olympic Games, by using a mixed observational methodology through a polar coordinate analysis. This analysis is a representation made into four quadrants of the relationships found between focal behavior [i.e., giving score points, (SC)] and conditioned behaviors considered as key factors in taekwondo, occurring before and after the focal behavior (i.e., retrospective/prospective behavior as indicated for each qua…
Adaptation and validation of pediatric peripheral intravenous catheter insertion and care practices audit tools.
2021
This study aimed to describe the translation process and establish the validity of the three instruments in Indonesian to assess pediatric peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) insertion and care practices. The six-step forward and backward translation method was used to translate the adapted questionnaires. The English version questionnaires included the point prevalence audit checklist, the nurse survey consisting of the nurse PIVC knowledge questionnaire and the nurse PIVC confidence questionnaire, plus a Patient/parent Experience Survey. Data collection was conducted in Indonesia between October 2019 and February 2020. In total, there were six translators (two for each instrument), nine…
Professional thinking in Individual Plan processes
2014
This article explores the kind of critical and reflective thinking taht influences the social and health care professionals in the Individual Plan process. An inter-professional group of six healthcare and social researchers collected the data, which consisted of indepth interviews with 12 service providers who were the clients´ coordinators and one day centre leader. By focusing on reflective thinking in a critical perspective, it is concluded that coordinators are guided by different philosophical and theoretical perspectives in this process; a mixture of reasoning strategies, caring as a relational concept and a mixture of philosophical frameworks. To improve critical thinking in Individ…
Mathematical model of detrimental inflammation in the late stage of colorectal cancer
2019

Masteroppgave folkehelsevitenskap ME516 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Summary:This qualitative study higlights that lack of intangible resources such as time and availability are the most importent factors affecting vertical and horizontal interaction between health professionals in primary health care and specialist health care. It is emphasized that time is the single most important factorthat can both promote and inhibit interdisciplinary and cross-sectorial interactionbetween health proffesionals. The study highlights that these are the same factors that can promote or inhibit this interaction. Keywords: Interaction, primary healt care, intangible resources
