Updating our understanding of health-related quality of life issues in children with cancer: a systematic review of patient-reported outcome measures…
2022
Abstract Background Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is a key concept in pediatric oncology. This systematic review aims to update the conceptual HRQOL model by Anthony et al. (Qual Life Res 23(3):771–789, 2014), covering physical, emotional, social and general HRQOL aspects, and to present a comprehensive overview of age- and disease-specific HRQOL issues in children with cancer. Methods Medline, PsychINFO, the Cochrane Database for Systematic Reviews (CDSR), and the COSMIN database were searched (up to 31.12.2020) for publications using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and qualitative studies in children with cancer (8–14-year) or their parents. Items and quotations were ex…
Development and testing of a net-based resource to guide teachers in assisting students with mental health challenges
2021
Master's thesis in Multimedia and educational technology (MM506) This thesis will seek answers to what extent teachers are properly equipped when helping students with mental health problems, how a net-based resource can assist teachers in handling this challenge, and what approaches teachers recommend for an easy-to-use net-based resource. We iteratively prototyped a net-based resource called Tankeverk.no using a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach by involving key stakeholders, experts, health personal, and teachers. The prototype combined with the in-depth interviews and questionnaires gave insights into the relevance, quality, and user acceptance of our solution. The vast majority of t…
The magic in the (extra)ordinary: Intensive validation to recalibrate the life-worlds of adolescents exposed to abuse
2022
This qualitative case study aimed to explore environmental circumstances and inter-actional processes that appeared to be relevant for the dynamics of resilience in ado-lescents exposed to child abuse. Fieldwork at a learning and coping centre forchildren and their families was combined with semi-structured interviews with ado-lescent participants aged 12 to 18 years. A critical realist approach was used tounpack what has been called the‘ordinary magic’of resilience. We found thatinten-sively validating qualitiesof both theenvironmentandrelationshipsseemed to be driv-ing components for resilience. Borrowing ideas from the sociometer theory, wepropose that particularly the consistent intensi…
Ethical realism before social constructionism
2021
In this article, I explore the idea that there is a fundamental ethical aspect that precedes social constructionism. I suggest that within social constructionism we can identify a development from seeing knowledge as socially constructed ( epistemological social constructionism) to seeing not only knowledge, but also corporeal ways of being as socially constructed ( ontological social constructionism). As a next step, I propose incorporating what I refer to as ethical realism in social constructionist perspectives. In the encounter with the other human being, I argue that there is a real ethical impulse that precedes social constructionism and puts it in motion. This impulse is real in the…

Rethinking the improvisation of digital health technology: A niche construction perspective
2022
Paid open access The COVID-19 pandemic has sent shock waves through healthcare organisations and catalysed an impromptu digital shift, creating a demand for telemedicine and other digital health technologies. Under such conditions, improvisation, adaptation, and innovation emerge as core dimensions to an organisation’s capacity to generate a response to crisis. This paper integrates a process perspective on the radical improvisation of a digital health technology and investigates how the radical improvisation of a digital health technology emerges and develops during a health crisis. Through a combination of supporting case evidence and literature, a multi-phase conceptual process model anc…
Anestesisykepleier i traumeteam : En kvalitativ studie om hvordan opplever nyutdannet anestesisykepleier å delta i traumeteam
2020
Master's thesis in Specialized nursing (ME519) Background: Our interest in the trauma team beganwhen we started working in the hospital. This interest increased as we began our education as anesthetic nurses and were allowed to join the trauma team with a larger and more important role. Anesthetic nursing is a practical profession and requires high professional knowledge and good practical skills. An anesthetic nurses hould be able to participate in pre-hospital work. A newly trained anesthetic nurse who works in trauma teams can feel very vulnerable and intimidated in an emergency situation due to the fact that they would have least amount of knowledge and experience in situations such as …

The New Patterns study: coordinated measures to combat child poverty
2020
Background: Child poverty rates are rising in Norway with potential negative consequences for children. Services for families with low income are often fragmented and poorly integrated, and few coordinated initiatives have been implemented and evaluated in Norway. Methods: The study uses a mixed methods approach utilising survey and register data, as well as information from interviews and shadowing, to document and evaluate outco…
