Hverdag og verden er unge jenters psyke. En kontekstualisert forståelse av psykososiale helseplager blant unge jenter

2022

Psychosocial health among girls implies that girls’ perception of themselves is related to both their close surroundings and their more distant surroundings. Selfreported mental health problems among adolescents have increased and this is specifically evident for girls. Challenges related to mental health have received great emphasis throughout recent years in research, media and preventive mental health work. Regarding these issues, it is relevant to seek a contextualized understanding that explores the psychosocial health connected to everyday life and to broader societal structures among young girls.

The impact of social and environmental extremes on cholera time varying reproduction number in Nigeria

2022

AbstractNigeria currently reports the second highest number of cholera cases in Africa, with numerous socioeconomic and environmental risk factors. Less investigated are the role of extreme events, despite recent work showing their potential importance. To address this gap, we used a machine learning approach to understand the risks and thresholds for cholera outbreaks and extreme events, taking into consideration pre-existing vulnerabilities. We estimated time varying reproductive number (R) from cholera incidence in Nigeria and used a machine learning approach to evaluate its association with extreme events (conflict, flood, drought) and pre-existing vulnerabilities (poverty, sanitation, …

En annen kompetanse? Den norske dosenten i et kriterie- og kompetanseperspektiv

2020

This chapter explores the criteria for promotion to docent (dosent in Norwegian), a variant of the professor position. The criteria are based on a different path of qualification to a top academic position where neither a PhD nor a specific number of referee-assessed research articles are required. Four questions are discussed in the chapter: 1) What characterizes the docent position? 2) What kinds of competence does a docent possess? 3) Why do academic institutions need docents? 4) Do the flexible interpretations of the promotion criteria represent challenges? The authors’ answers to these questions show that docents are expected to possess a wider repertoire of competences than a professo…
