Natural occurrence of emerging Fusarium mycotoxins in feed and fish from aquaculture.
2014
A new analytical method for the simultaneous determination of enniatins (ENs) and beauvericin (BEA) in fish feed and fish tissues by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry with linear ion trap (LC-MS/MS-LIT) was developed. Results showed that the developed method is precise and sensitive. The presence of emerging Fusarium mycotoxins, ENs and BEA, was determined in samples of aquaculture fish and feed for farmed fish, showing that all feed samples analyzed were contaminated with mycotoxins, with 100% coexistence. In aquacultured fish samples, the highest incidence was found in edible muscle and liver. As for the exposure assessment calculated, it was found that average consumer i…
The Phycosiphon record in the Ladrilleros-Juanchaco section (Miocene, Colombian Pacific): palaeoecological implications
2018
Miocene rocks of the Ladrilleros-Juanchaco section, located on the NW margin of South America, contain a high diverse and abundant trace fossil assemblage. The relative abundance of Phycosiphon, together with its morphological variations, provides new insights into the environmental conditions. Detailed outcrop stratigraphic, ichnological, and geochemical analyses carried out in the section focused on the trace fossil assemblages (distribution, relative abundance), ichnofabric index, and, especially, in the general ichnological features of Phycosiphon . In addition, the detailed photographic documentation and the use of the digital image treatment technique facilitate the precise study of …
GyDB mobilomics: LTR retroelements and integrase-related transposons of the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum genome
2011
[EN] The Gypsy Database concerning Mobile Genetic Elements (release 2.0) is a wiki-style project devoted to the phylogenetic classification of LTR retroelements and their viral and host gene relatives characterized from distinct organisms. Furthermore, GyDB 2.0 is concerned with studying mobile elements within genomes. Therefore, an in-progress repository was created for databases with annotations of mobile genetic elements from particular genomes. This repository is called Mobilomics and the first uploaded database contains 549 LTR retroelements and related transposases which have been annotated from the genome of the Pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum. Mobilomics is accessible from the GyDB 2.…
Dynamic mechanical properties of semi-interpenetrating networks based on poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride)
1991
Semi-interpenetrating networks based on linear anionic polystyrene (PS) and poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) P(ScoMA) of low MA content are prepared by crosslinking the P(ScoMA) with 4,4′-diphenylmethanediamine (DPMDA). It is demonstrated by dynamic mechanical analysis and by DSC that immiscible semi-IPN's are obtained for MA contents greater 5 wt.-%. In miscible semi-IPN's the relaxation of free PS chains is observed as a second maximum in the loss tangent at higher temperatures. The position of this maximum is shifted to higher temperatures for a polystyrene of molecular weight 500000 compared to a polystyrene of molecular weight 150000. The experimental temperature shift is in good agre…
Patterns of variation in tail ornament size in birds
1988
In recent years several different kinds of sexual selection models have been developed, and tail ornaments in birds have frequently been used as an example of a sexually selected character where the models might apply. However, very little is known about intra- and interpopulation variation in ornament size. We have studied the elongated tail ornaments in four species of whydahs Vidua, the forktailed flycatcher Tyrannus savana and the Asian paradise flycatcher Terpsiphone paradisi. Ornaments were relatively longer in males with the longest tarsi (‘heterogony’ with positive allometry). Also, tail lengths were remarkably variable within each geographical area, the coefficient of variation (av…
¿Qué creen? No soy chismoso pero…. Mexican gossip: Affiliation or self-interest?
2017
Whilst being taken more seriously, especially in anthropological and sociological studies, gossip is still often regarded trivial and of little academic research interest. Given that it is unstoppable, persistent and often enjoyable (Epstein, 2011), gossip has been examined in terms of function (e.g. talk about intimate matters to express shared values) and as a form of communication *for example, to express resistance (Goodman & Ben-Ze’ev, 1994). In this chapter, I examine the importance of gossip in the Mexican context. In Mexico, gossip has been examined in terms of function e.g. (Hagene, 2010), situation (Vázquez Garcia y Chávez Arellano, 2008) and resistance (Vázquez García 2007). …
Mathematical modeling of a vehicle crash test based on elasto-plastic unloading scenarios of spring-mass models
2011
Published version of an article in the journal: The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology. Also available from the publisher on SpringerLink: htp://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00170-010-3056-x This paper investigates the usability of spring which exhibit nonlinear force-deflection characteristic in the area of mathematical modeling of vehicle crash. We present a method which allows us to obtain parameters of the spring-mass model basing on the full-scale experimental data analysis. Since vehicle collision is a dynamic event, it involves such phenomena as rebound and energy dissipation. Three different spring unloading scenarios (elastic, plastic, and elasto-plastic) are covered…
Linear instability of mixed convection of cold water in a porous layer induced by viscous dissipation
2009
Accepted version of an article published in the journal: International Journal of Thermal Sciences, Elsevier Published version available on Science Direct: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ijthermalsci.2008.06.012 An analysis of linear stability of the stationary laminar Darcy flow in a horizontal porous layer is performed. The porous layer is saturated with cold water. The upper plane boundary is assumed to be subject to heat transfer with finite conductance to an environment at the temperature of maximum density of cold water. The lower plane boundary is adiabatic. Convective instabilities are caused by flow viscous dissipation, inducing a basic temperature distribution that decreases in the u…
Stability of Flow with Viscous Dissipation in a Horizontal Porous Layer with an Open Boundary Having a Prescribed Temperature Gradient
2010
Published version of an article in the journal: Transport in Porous Media. The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com, http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11242-010-9588-6 A buoyancy-induced stationary flow with viscous dissipation in a horizontal porous layer is investigated. The lower boundary surface is impermeable and subject to a uniform heat flux. The upper open boundary has a prescribed, linearly varying, temperature distribution. The buoyancy-induced basic velocity profile is parallel and non-uniform. The linear stability of this basic solution is analysed numerically by solving the disturbance equations for oblique rolls arbitrarily oriented with respect to the basic velo…
Viedtālruņu lādētāja izstrādes projekts
2016
Maģistra darba tēma ir “Viedtālruņu lādētāja izstrādes projekts”. Darba mērķis ir paplašināt viedtālruņu uzlādes iespējas Latvijā. Izpētes daļā tika veikta mobilo ierīču uzlādes iespēju izpēte un analīze, veikta viedtālruņu lietotāju aptauja, noteikta pamatproblēma – viedtālruņu lietotāji nav apmierināti ar viedtālruņu uzlādes procesu. Tās analīzes rezultātā izvēlēta konkrēti risināmā problēma - ierobežota viedtālruņu lādētāju izvēle Latvijas tirgū. Maģistra darba izstrādes rezultāts ir projekts, kura realizācija nodrošinās Latvijas tirgū jaunu viedtālruņu lādētāja veidu - velo saules “Power bank” lādētāju.
