Examination of the influence of transfer channels on the barrier height distribution: Scattering ofNe20onNi58,Ni60, andNi61at near-barrier energies

2016

Background: It was suggested that the shape of the barrier height distribution can be determined not only by strong reaction channels (collective excitations) but also by weak channels such as transfers and/or noncollective excitations.Purpose: The study of the barrier height distributions for the $^{20}\mathrm{Ne}+\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{58,60,61}\mathrm{Ni}$ systems requires information on transfer cross sections at near-barrier energies. Methods: A measurement of the cross sections for various transfer channels at a backward angle (142 degrees), at a near-barrier energy was performed. Identification of products was based on time-of-flight and $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}E\text{\ens…

Chaotic Antiferromagnetic Nano-Oscillator driven by Spin-Torque

2021

We theoretically describe the behavior of a terahertz nano-oscillator based on an anisotropic antiferromagnetic dynamical element driven by spin torque. We consider the situation when the polarization of the spin-current is perpendicular to the external magnetic field applied along the anisotropy easy-axis. We determine the domain of the parametric space (field, current) where the oscillator demonstrates chaotic dynamics. Characteristics of the chaotic regimes are analyzed using conventional techniques such as spectra of the Lyapunov exponents. We show that the threshold current of the chaos appearance is particularly low in the vicinity of the spin-flop transition. In this regime, we consi…

Fourth-order perturbation theory for the half-filled Hubbard model in infinite dimensions

2003

We calculate the zero-temperature self-energy to fourth-order perturbation theory in the Hubbard interaction $U$ for the half-filled Hubbard model in infinite dimensions. For the Bethe lattice with bare bandwidth $W$, we compare our perturbative results for the self-energy, the single-particle density of states, and the momentum distribution to those from approximate analytical and numerical studies of the model. Results for the density of states from perturbation theory at $U/W=0.4$ agree very well with those from the Dynamical Mean-Field Theory treated with the Fixed-Energy Exact Diagonalization and with the Dynamical Density-Matrix Renormalization Group. In contrast, our results reveal t…

Generation of robust entangled states in a non-hermitian periodically driven two-band Bose-Hubbard system

2016

A many-body Wannier-Stark system coupled to an effective reservoir is studied within a non-Hermitian approach in the presence of a periodic driving. We show how the interplay of dissipation and driving dynamically induces a subspace of states which are very robust against dissipation. We numerically probe the structure of these asymptotic states and their robustness to imperfections in the initial-state preparation and to the size of the system. Moreover, the asymptotic states are found to be strongly entangled making them interesting for further applications.

Shot noise for resonant Cooper pair tunneling

2001

We study intrinsic noise of current in a superconducting single-electron transistor, taking into account both coherence effects and Coulomb interaction near a Cooper-pair resonance. Due to this interplay, the statistics of tunneling events deviates from the Poisson distribution and, more important, it shows even-odd asymmetry in the transmitted charge. The zero-frequency noise is suppressed significantly when the quasiparticle tunneling rates are comparable to the coherent oscillation frequency of Cooper pairs.

Direct observation of the quasiparticle relaxation in YBa2Cu3O7

1999

Abstract The real and imaginary parts of the optical conductivity ( σ 1 + iσ 2 ) in the superconducting state of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ thin films have been obtained by submillimeter spectroscopy for frequencies from 3 to 35 cm −1 . The quasiparticle relaxation can be directly observed in this frequency range. A Drude-type analysis allows to extract the temperature dependence of the scattering rate. The collapse of the relaxation rates provides clear experimental evidence that the spin fluctuations become gapped below T C .

Flux-flow instability and its anisotropy inBi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δsuperconducting films

1999

We report measurements on voltage instability at high flux-flow velocities in ${\mathrm{Bi}}_{2}{\mathrm{Sr}}_{2}{\mathrm{CaCu}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{8+\mathrm{\ensuremath{\delta}}}$ superconducting films. Current-voltage $(I\ensuremath{-}V)$ characteristics have been measured as a function of temperature, magnetic field, and angle between the field and the c axis of the sample. Voltage jumps were observed in $I\ensuremath{-}V$ characteristics taken in all magnetic-field directions and in extended temperature and field ranges. An analysis of the experimental data, based on a theory for viscous flux-flow instability with a finite heat-removal rate from the sample, yielded the inelastic scatterin…

Thermalization efficiency of superconducting absorbers for thermal X-ray microcalorimeters

2004

The persistence of long living quasiparticles created in the energy thermalization process can affect the performances of a thermal X-ray microcalorimeter with superconducting absorber. Numerical simulations indicate that in an ab- sorber made of high-purity Sn, operated at temperatures lower than 100 mK, up to 60% of the deposited energy can remain trapped in the quasiparticle system for a time much longer than the time scale of the thermal sensor response, producing a reduction of the SNR of the detector. Other pure superconductors can present the same problem and therefore a microscopic analysis of the physical properties can be useful to identify suitable absorbing materials and optimiz…

Self-consistent calculation of the flux-flow conductivity in diffusive superconductors

2017

In the framework of Keldysh-Usadel kinetic theory, we study the temperature dependence of flux-flow conductivity (FFC) in diffusive superconductors. By using self-consistent vortex solutions we find the exact values of dimensionless parameters that determine the diffusion-controlled FFC both in the limit of the low temperatures and close to the critical one. Taking into account the electron-phonon scattering we study the transition between flux-flow regimes controlled either by the diffusion or the inelastic relaxation of non-equilibrium quasiparticles. We demonstrate that the inelastic electron-phonon relaxation leads to the strong suppression of FFC as compared to the previous estimates m…

Frequency-dependent relaxation rate in superconductingYBa2Cu3O6+δ

2000

The submillimeter-wave $3 {\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}l\ensuremath{\nu}l40 {\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ complex conductivity of the reduced ${\mathrm{YBa}}_{2}{\mathrm{Cu}}_{3}{\mathrm{O}}_{6+\ensuremath{\delta}}$ film ${(T}_{C}=56.5 \mathrm{K})$ was investigated for temperatures $4 \mathrm{K}lTl300 \mathrm{K}$ and compared to the properties of the same film in the optimally doped state. The frequency dependence of the effective quasiparticle scattering rate $1/{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{*}(\ensuremath{\nu})$ was extracted from the spectra. $1/{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{*}$ is shown to be frequency independent at low frequencies and high temperatures. A gradual change to $1/{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{…
