Failure mechanisms of flax/epoxy laminates with open hole: a failure map

Aim of this paper is the investigation of the pin/hole contact stress and failure mechanisms of flax/epoxy composite laminates underwent to tensile bearing tests. In particular, the maximum loads and failure modes are evaluated at varying joint geometry. In order to optimize the use of composite materials in structural applications, an experimental failure map, identifying main failure modes of mechanically fastened joints, is obtained by evaluating failure modes (i.e., net tension, shear out, cleavage and bearing) as a function of the pin diameter and the position of the hole from the free edge of the laminate. Vibration-based identification of mechanical properties of orthotropic arbitrarily shaped plates: Numerical and experimental assessment

Abstract An innovative procedure is introduced for the identification of the mechanical parameters of orthotropic plates of arbitrary shape, under various boundary conditions, based on vibration data. The method employs a combination of a convenient Rayleigh-Ritz approach and Particle-Swarm Optimization to estimate elastic constants of the orthotropic material in a straightforward manner, without requiring computationally demanding iterative Finite Element analyses. Autobiographical Memory, Personality, and Facebook Mementos

The present study analyzed the relationships between directive, self and social functions of autobiographical memory, personality traits, as defined by the Five Factor model, and the Facebook mementos. We defined Facebook mementos as objective measures of the textual (i.e., Facebook Status Updating) and visual (i.e., Photos uploading) information people record on their Facebook profiles. Questionnaires gathered data from a sample of 193 Italian Facebook users (148 female; 45 male; age M = 22.8, SD = 6.8). Tourism Destination Image, Tourism Discourse and UNESCO sites: a contrastive analysis

The purpose of this paper is to analyse tourism discourse - i.e. English as specialised and promotional discourse in the tourism field (Dann 1996, Gotti 2006, Maci, 2013) – as it is applied on websites promoting UNESCO sites in Sicily and in Malta.
