Common Groundsel (Senecio vulgarisL. var.vulgaris(2n = 40)) is widespread in the northern hemisphere. In Israel, judging from a herbarium survey, records taken from the Israel Plant Information Center (ROTEM), and field studies, it has a restricted and widely disjunct pattern of geographical distribution, and, thus, is another example of the comparatively large group of weeds in Israel which are extremely stenochorous. Association of Variants in the SPTLC1 Gene with Juvenile Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Key Points Question What genetic variants are associated with juvenile amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)? Findings In this family-based genetic study, exome sequencing was performed in 3 patients diagnosed with juvenile ALS and failure to thrive; this identified de novo variants in SPTLC1 (p.Ala20Ser in 2 patients and p.Ser331Tyr in 1 patient). Variants in SPTLC1 are a known cause of hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy, type 1A, and these data extend the phenotype associated with this gene. Meaning De novo variants in the SPTLC1 gene are associated with juvenile ALS, a fatal neurological disorder.

World over, open distance learning (ODL) is widely articulated and vouchered as a panacea pedagogy for increased access and flexibility to higher education. In reality, however, the actual use of ODL approaches in higher institutions of learning in developing regions is unexpectedly low and not in tandem with its wide favorable regional and international vouchering. Approaching the precursor nuclei of the third r-process peak with RIBs

The rapid neutron nucleosynthesis process involves an enormous amount of very exotic neutron-rich nuclei, which represent a theoretical and experimental challenge. Two of the main decay properties that affect the final abundance distribution the most are half-lives and neutron branching ratios. Using fragmentation of a primary $^{238}$U beam at GSI we were able to measure such properties for several neutron-rich nuclei from $^{208}$Hg to $^{218}$Pb. This contribution provides a short update on the status of the data analysis of this experiment, together with a compilation of the latest results published in this mass region, both experimental and theoretical. Time cycles of homicide in the early modern Nordic area

An extensive body of criminological research has shown that criminaland violent behaviour manifests time patterns in terms of daily,weekly and annual cycles. This is consistent with criminologicalroutine activities theory. Can we generalize these patterns to historicalperiods? In this article, we draw on a recently created uniquedataset, covering the years 1608–1699 in three Nordic regions, toexplore time cycles of offending in the early modern period.Examining daily, weekly and annual cycles, we find that lethalviolence manifested strong time patterns in the early modernperiod. Masteroppgave Sosiologi og sosialt arbeid ME522 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Formålet med denne oppgaven er å få en forståelse for det emosjonelle arbeidet som frontlinjeansatte på nav utøver. Fokuset er å belyse både hvordan de opplever og hvordan de håndterer ulike situasjoner de kommer opp i. Oppgaven er basert på intervjuer og observasjoner av totalt 13 ansatte på et lokalt nav-kontor som arbeider tett med brukere innenfor ulike avdelinger. Prosjektleder Erik Höglund Prosjektet undersøkte hvilken betydning det å få sjøørret har for fritidsfiskere i form av fiskeglede og videre hva som er viktig for en god fiskeopplevelse. Bakgrunnen for dette er å få i stand et europeisk samarbeid og en søknad omkring sosio-økologiske problemstillinger i kystsonen, med fokus på fritidsfiske og turisme. I samarbeid med Aust-Agder Jeger- og Fiskeforening ble det utviklet mobil- og internettapplikasjoner som rapporteringsverktøy. Resultatene av bruken av dette verktøyet viste at fiskeeffektiviteten blant deltagerne var 1 sjøørret pr 5,34 timer fisket og det var ingen signifikant forskjell i fornøydhet knyttet til utstyrsvalg eller om fiskeren fik…
