Vaikka suullisen kielitaidon opetus on saanut huomiota osakseen, jää se usein muiden kielitaidon osa-alueiden varjoon. Oppikirjoissa olevat suulliset harjoitukset eivät aina motivoi oppilaita luontevaan keskusteluun, josta syystä heille on tärkeää tarjota mahdollisuuksia käydä mielekkäitä, ajatuksia herättäviä keskusteluja. Teknologian käyttö luokkahuoneessa on myös pinnalla oleva puheenaihe, jonka hyödyntämiseen ei opettajille kuitenkaan ole tarjottu tarpeeksi käytännön välineitä. Motivaation yhteys luku- ja kirjoitustaitoon venäjää kotikielenään puhuvilla peruskoululaisilla

Motivaatiota on aiemmin tutkittu laajasti ja tiedetään, että sillä on merkitystä toisen ja vieraan kielen oppimisessa (Dörnyei 1994, 273). Kuitenkin maahanmuuttajien motivaatiota kotikieltään kohtaan on tutkittu melko vähän. Raportoimme tässä artikkelissa yhden pro gradu -tutkielman (Perikangas 2015) tuloksia. Tutkielmassa selvitettiin venäläistaustaisten koululaisten motivaatiota kotikieltään venäjää kohtaan sekä sitä, millainen yhteys motivaatiolla on venäjän kielen luku- ja kirjoitustaitoon. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin sitä, mitkä taustatekijät mahdollisesti ovat yhteydessä oppilaiden motivaatioon. nonPeerReviewed

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo examinar el poder predictivo de variables del sistema motivacional sobre las habilidades iniciales de lectura y matemáticas en una muestra de niños de Educación Infantil. Participaron 209 preescolares (5-6 años) y sus maestros. Se evaluaron las habilidades matemáticas de conteo, conocimiento de los números, cálculo y resolución de problemas. Para determinar el rendimiento en lectura se administraron tareas de identificación de letras y de lectura de palabras.
