Labor market participation, employability and and basic skills: the French case

2013

En ligne sur http://cemapre.iseg.utl.pt/educonf/2e3/files/submissions_to_web/Branche-Seigeot%20Aline.doc; The development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the important technological but also organizational innovations during the last decades have transformed the labor market and the jobs nature. One major consequence of this on employment has been the gradual rise in qualifications' structure sought and demanded by employers. However, the expansion of higher education contributed to depreciate diplomas proportionately more widespread in the labor market due to a greater skills' heterogeneity of their owners. Since high basic skills levels protect against unemployment…

The paradoxical management of service skills

2015

This paper focuses on service skills which are mobilized by front office agents when they are involved with customers. These skills are most of the time tacit. We consider that the way in which firms recognize these skills and contribute to their development is an important management issue. It is all the more important that a lot of jobs combine poor levels of qualification and highly situated skills.

Feasibility and physics potential of detecting 8B solar neutrinos at JUNO

2021

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for B-8 solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper, we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process. A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable, assuming that the intrinsic radioactive …

Klases audzinātāja darbība 7. - 9. klašu skolēnu karjeras vadības prasmju pilnveidei

2018

Maģistra darba “Klases audzinātāja darbība 7. – 9. klašu skolēnu karjeras vadības prasmju pilnveidei” mērķis ir izpētīt un izvērtēt klases audzinātāja darbību skolēnu karjeras vadības prasmju pilnveidei 7. – 9. klašu posmā. Darba pētījuma jautājumi - klases audzinātāja darbības iespējas skolēnu karjeras vadības prasmju pilnveidei un kādi apstākļi un faktori nepieciešami, lai raksturotās iespējas realizētu vispārizglītojošā izglītības iestādē. Darba teorētisko daļu veido literatūras avotu analīze par karjeras jēdziena būtību, karjeras vadības prasmēm un klases audzinātāja darbības iespējas. Praktiski pētnieciskajā daļā tika pētīti un datu ieguvei anketēti Rīgas X vispārējās vidējās izglītība…

Deep learning for knowledge tracing in learning analytics: An overview

2021

Learning Analytics (LA) is a recent research branch that refers to methods for measuring, collecting, analyzing, and reporting learners’ data, in order to better understand and optimize the processes and the environments. Knowledge Tracing (KT) deals with the modeling of the evolution, during the time, of the students’ learning process. Particularly its aim is to predict students’ outcomes in order to avoid failures and to support both students and teachers. Recently, KT has been tackled by exploiting Deep Learning (DL) models and generating a new, ongoing, research line that is known as Deep Knowledge Tracing (DKT). This was made possible by the digitalization process that has simplified t…

Letter knowledge predicts Grade 4 reading fluency and reading comprehension

2008

Abstract The present study examined the predictors of fourth graders' reading skills (reading comprehension, text reading and word chain reading). Reading skill antecedents of 158 children of 5–6 years of age were measured at the beginning of kindergarten; students' reading skills were measured in kindergarten and in Grades 1 and 4. The results showed that children's letter knowledge at the beginning of kindergarten was the most powerful predictor of their reading skills at the end of Grade 4. Other predictors were metacognitive awareness, gender, mother's level of education, and visual attention. Phonological awareness at kindergarten affected reading skills at Grade 4 through reading skil…

Ambidexterity and total quality management: towards a research agenda

2011

PurposeThe purpose of the paper is to expand on the existing theory of ambidexterity by analysing its implications for organisations that employ total quality management.Design/methodology/approachThe analysis of relevant theoretical and empirical studies on ambidexterity and total quality management enables us to reflect on the common elements, facilitating factors and synergy that exists between both fields.FindingsThanks to the synergy between its principles and practices, total quality management can act as a platform in creating an ambidextrous context, in addition to generating ambidextrous management capabilities and ambidextrous organisational skills. However, no relationship has be…

E-learning and development of key competencies: a bibliometric study

2021

MoodlePeers: Factors Relevant in Learning Group Formation for Improved Learning Outcomes, Satisfaction and Commitment in E-Learning Scenarios Using G…

2016

High-scale and pure online learning scenarios (like MOOCs) as well as blended-learning scenarios offer great possibilities to optimize the composition of learning groups working together on the assigned (or selected) tasks. While the benefits and importance of peer learning for deep learning and improvement of e.g. problem-solving competency and social skills are indisputable, little evidences exist about the relevant factors for group formation and their combination to optimize the learning outcome for all participants (in all groups). Based on the GroupAL algorithm, MoodlePeers proposes an plugin solution for Moodle. Evaluated in a four-week online university mathematics preparation cours…
