ABSTRACT Purpose: Using Schlossberg’s Transition Theory, this study explored the lived experiences of pregnant adolescents and adolescent mothers coping strategies during their transition to motherhood. Methods: Based on a phenomenological perspective, this qualitative study used in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs) to answer the research aim. The process of data gathering included 8 FGDs and 12 IDIs held with adolescent mothers and pregnant adolescents. Audio recordings were transcribed and imported into MAXQDA 2018 for analysis. Purpose: This case study explores the lived experiences of an elite female Paralympic powerlifting athlete. The focus is on restrictions and coping responses employed to manage the daily hassles within the cultural and ethnic requirements for achieving athletic excellence. Methods: With an unstructured interview, the narrative was acquired which ranged to a total of 75 minutes (approx) and 20 single spaced pages. Addictive smoking behavior often is described as a process involving a series of stages. Because the initation stage is crucial in the acquisition of smoking behavior, the purpose of this article is to describe the most important factors operative at this stage, such as stress, coping, social skills, self-efficacy and attitude changes. Problems posed by programs designed to prevent addictive smoking behavior and methodological and conceptual issues concerning intervention programs and theories of smoking are discussed. Finally, issues related to future research in the area of smoking cessation are considered.
