Discrimination and provenances of Phoenician red slip ware using both the solid state electrochemistry and petrographic analyses

2020

[EN] Solid state electrochemistry based on the voltammetry of immobilized microparticles (VIMP) methodology is applied to a series of 80 Phoenician Red Slip samples from the archaeological sites of Motya (Sicily, Italy), Mogador (Morocco), Ramat-Rahel (Israel), Sulky (Sardinia, Italy), Tas Silg (Malta), Pantelleria (Italy), and Cadiz (Spain), dated from the 8(th) to the 6(th) century BC. Upon attachment of sub-microsamples to graphite electrodes in contact with aqueous H2SO4 electrolyte, voltammetric features due to the reduction of Fe(III) minerals and the oxidation of Fe(II) ones, complemented with electrocatalytic effects on oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions, provide charac…

Elastohydrodynamic Collision of Two Spheres Allowing Slip on Their Surfaces.

2000

Our goal is to study theoretically the effect of deformation on the collision of two solid spheres allowing slip on their surfaces. The deformed shape of the solid surface is determined via an asymptotic technique assuming that deformation is small compared with the separation between the surfaces. It has previously been shown that the slippage makes collision possible even without any surface attractive force. Here we demonstrate that even a small amount of deformation can preclude spheres from coagulation. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.

KOPSAVILKUMS Nosaukums: Koronāro artēriju datortomogrāfiskās angiogrāfijas atrades raksturojums pacientiem ar iespējamu vai konstatētu Ģimenes Hiperholesterinēmiju. Ievads: Ģimenes hiperholesterīnēmija ir biežākais iemesls pārmantotai dislipidēmijai visā pasaulē. Slimība attīstās nemanāmi, bet pēkšņi var kļūt fatāla. Tāpēc ir svarīgi to diagnosticēt vai izvērtēt bojājumu izteiktību cik agri iespējams, pirmsaterosklerotiskiem kardiovaskulāriem notikumiem.Sķiet, ka šobrīd CT angiogrāfija ir laba metode lai raksturotu izmaiņas koronārajās artērijās ĢH pacientiem. Mērkis: Raksturot aterosklerotiskās izmaiņas ĢH pacientu koronārajās artērijās izmantojot CT angiogrāfija rezultātus. Materiāls un m…

Changes in Cerebral Amino Acid Transport During Development

1976

The transport of metabolites to and from the central nervous system is of considerable interest. To a greater extent than most other tissues, central nervous system tissue invitro takes up amino acids to well above their concentrations in the incubation medium. Presumably the transport systems responsible for this uptake and for efflux invitro are also those responsible for transport between brain cells in living animals2.

Liberalism, Governmentality and Counter-Conduct; An Introduction to Foucauldian Analytics of Liberal Civil Society Notions

2015

This article gives an analysis of Foucault’s studies of civil society and the various liberalist critiques of government. It follows from Foucault’s genealogical approach that “civil society” does not in itself possess any form of transcendental existence; its historical reality must be seen as the result of the productive nature of the power-knowledge-matrices. Foucault emphasizes that modern governmentality—and more specifically the procedures he names “the conduct of conduct”—is not exercised through coercive power and domination, but is dependent on the freedom and activeness of individuals and groups of society. Civil society is thus analyzed as fundamentally ambivalent: on the one han…

Metabolic effects of sacubitril/valsartan: are they relevant in clinical practice?

2018

The burden of cardiometabolic diseases continues to rise worldwide (1). Obesity, insulin resistance, atherogenic dyslipidemia, hypertension and intra-abdominal adiposity are strongly interrelated and are crucial determinants of heart failure (HF) (2).
