Abstract In this paper, terrain susceptibility to earth-flow occurrence was evaluated by using geographic information systems (GIS) and two statistical methods: Logistic regression (LR) and multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS). LR has been already demonstrated to provide reliable predictions of earth-flow occurrence, whereas MARS, as far as we know, has never been used to generate earth-flow susceptibility models. The experiment was carried out in a basin of western Sicily (Italy), which extends for 51 km 2 and is severely affected by earth-flows. Il testo è stato realizzato in occasione di un'esecuzione della Sinfonia n. 8 in sol maggiore op. 88 di Antonìn Dvoràk e di due brani vocali di Johannes Brahms: "Schicksalslied" per coro e orchestra op. 54 e "Naenie" per coro e orchestra op. 82. In particolare, per quanto riguarda le opere di Brahms, viene analizzato il contesto biografico in cui vedono la luce e il rapporto fra la struttura musicale e i testi poetici di Hoelderlin e di Schiller.

Tutkimuksen aihe on musliminaisten päähineen (huivi/ hijab) käyttöönsä liittämät merkitykset. Tutkimus selvittää minkälaisia merkityksiä huivin käyttöön liittyy ja kuinka musliminaisten toimijuus ilmenee suhteessa hijabin käyttöön? Tutkimus on luonteeltaan fenomenografinen, sillä sen tavoitteena oli nostaa esiin erilaisia käsityksiä ja käsitysten laadullisia eroja tutkittavasta ilmiöstä. Aineistoa on kerätty puolistrukturoidun haastattelumenetelmän avulla ja aineistolle on tehty teoriasidonnainen analyysi, joka kytkee tutkimustulokset ilmiön laajempaan kontekstiin ja aihetta koskeviin muihin tutkimustuloksiin.

The current gold standard for the diagnosis of myocardial bridging is conventional coronary angiography; however, it shows only indirect signs of the disease, due to the systolic compression of the artery caused by the myocardial bridge with narrowing of the lumen and diastolic relaxation. On the other hand, computed tomography coronary angiography, even though exposing to radiation, clearly demonstrates the intramural course, the overlying muscular bands and the surrounding tissues also in asymptomatic patients and in absence of systolic compression. Pētniecības darbs „Dzīves kvalitāte pacientiem ar Menjēra slimību” ir izstrādāts ar mērķi noskaidrot dzīves kvalitāte pacientiem ar Menjēra slimību. Kā pētījuma bāze tika izvēlēta ārstniecības iestāde, kur ārstējas pacienti ar Menjēra slimību. Pētījumā tika izmantotas kvalitatīvā un kvantitatīva pētniecības metodes, ar kuru instrumentiem – novērošanas protokols un aptaujas anketu, tika veikta respondentu izjautāšana. Pētniecības darbam ir divas daļas. Pirmā daļa ir teorētiskā daļa, kurā tiek sniegts ieskats par Menjēra slimību un dzīves kvalitāte pacientiem. Nanogels combine the favourable properties of hydrogels with those of colloids. They can be soft and conformable, stimuli-responsive and highly permeable, and can expose a large surface with functional groups for conjugation to small and large molecules, and even macromolecules. They are among the very few systems that can be generated and used as aqueous dispersions. Nanogels are emerging materials for targeted drug delivery and bio-imaging, but they have also shown potential for water purification and in catalysis.
