Cross section for bb¯ production via dielectrons in d + Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV

We report a measurement of e+e− pairs from semileptonic heavy-flavor decays in d + Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV. By exploring the mass and transverse-momentum dependence of the yield, the bottom decay contribution can be isolated from charm, and quantified by comparison to PYTHIA and MC@NLO simulations. The resulting bb¯-production cross section is σdAu bb¯ = 1.37 ± 0.28 (stat) ± 0.46 (syst) mb, which is equivalent to a nucleon-nucleon cross section of σ NN bb = 3.4 ± 0.8 (stat) ± 1.1 (syst) μb. peerReviewed

AbstractThe General Decision-Making Styles (GDMS) scale measures five decision-making styles: rational, intuitive, dependent, avoidant and spontaneous. GDMS has been related to coping and some personality factors and sex-differences has been described. In spite of its usefulness, there is not a validated Spanish translation. β-lactoglobulin (β-lg) is the major whey protein in milk of ruminants and several non ruminant species, but it is lacking in rodents, lagomorphs and human. The aim of this work was sequencing the promoter region of β-lg gene in Sicilian sheep and goat dairy breeds, in order to identify polymorphisms. In these species, the promoter region was aligned using the sequences available on database. A common set of primers was designed to amplify and sequence a fragment of approximately 2.1 kb. Within this region, 12 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified in goat breeds: 7 out of them were not yet reported in literature. Predicted gamma-ray image of SN 1006 due to inverse Compton emission

We propose a method to synthesize the inverse Compton (IC) gamma-ray image of a supernova remnant starting from the radio (or hard X-ray) map and using results of the spatially resolved X-ray spectral analysis. The method is successfully applied to SN 1006. We found that synthesized IC gamma-ray images of SN 1006 show morphology in nice agreement with that reported by the H.E.S.S. collaboration. The good correlation found between the observed very-high energy gamma-ray and X-ray/radio appearance can be considered as an evidence that the gamma-ray emission of SN 1006 observed by H.E.S.S. is leptonic in origin, though the hadronic origin may not be excluded.

It also interprets the role of the natural environment among stakeholders, and discusses how that role is justified or not justified. Diplomdarbā „Zīmju valodas lietošanas iespējas interjera dizainā” tiek apskatīti simboli, zīmes, krāsas – vadlīnijas svešā vidē, to vēsturiskie aspekti, to ietekme un nozīme dažādās pasaules kultūrās. Autore aplūko arī viesnīcas sabiedrisko telpu nozīmi mūsdienās un to veidošanas principus. Darbā tiek analizētas viesnīcu sabiedriskās telpas, kurās ir kāda veida zīmju valodas pielietošana, lai palīdzētu lietotājam, kā arī dažāda veida mūsdienās veidotas piktogrammas. Autore ir izstrādājusi interjera dizaina projektu viesnīcas koplietošanas telpām, ievērojot galvenos principus, lai lietotājs ērti justos šajā vidē.
Constructing co-presence through shared VR gameplay

This study analyzes how participants playing VR games construct co-presence and shared gameplay. The analysis focuses on instances of play where one person is wearing the VR equipment, and other participants are located nearby without the ability to directly interact with the game. We first show how the active player using the VR equipment draws on talk and embodied activity to signal their presence in the shared physical environment, while simultaneously conducting actions in the virtual space, and thus creates spaces for the other participants to take part in gameplay. Tutkielmani tarkoitus oli selvittää, miten opettajat opettavat suullisia kommunikaatiotaitoja ja niihin kuuluvia osataitoja yläkoulussa, sekä kartoittaa, millaisia ajatuksia ja periaatteita he liittävät suullisen kielitaidon opetukseen. Tämän lisäksi halusin selvittää, realisoituvatko opettajien käsitykset omasta opetuksestaan vai eroavat ne opetuksesta, joka käytännössä toteutuu luokkahuoneissa. Tutkimukseni on luonteeltaan kvalitatiivinen tapaustutkimus, jossa tutkin kolmen opettajan yläkoulun ruotsinopettajan tuntiopetusta sekä heidän ajatuksiaan suullisen kielitaidon opettamisesta.
