Anàlisi feminista de les xarxes socials de les migrants colombianes al País Valencià

The results of this piece of research2 on migrant women3 are presented from a feminist approach. The research shows the current diversity in migration processes and, specifically, the key role of finding out the social practices of political migrants. The differences and similarities found in the two groups' social networks and practices are identified and compared from a social point of view, through a completely new interpretation of the concepts of economic and political migrants. This research thus aims to understand the characteristics of participative practices within the group of Colombian migrants living and taking part in two societies at the same time.

Mobile search prototype demonstrates the possibilities of social network search in N800 mobile devices. Search is initiated from a N800 mobile device to search the contacts in mobile device's addressbook. The contacts can be other N800 mobile devices running mobile Web server or normal Web servers in the Internet with Drupal content management system. How to make head or tail of ‘bridging’ and ‘bonding’?: addressing the methodological ambiguity1

A distinction has recently been proposed between bridging (or encompassing) and bonding (or inward-looking) social networks. However, existing theoretical contributions remain vague as to the fundamental meaning of both concepts. As a consequence, two distinct interpretations have developed alongside each other. In the present paper, we employ data on voluntary association membership in Flanders to empirically illustrate that both approaches can lead to substantially different outcomes and therefore appear to tap into different dimensions of bridging versus bonding. How social network sites and other online intermediaries increase exposure to news

2020

Research has prominently assumed that social media and web portals that aggregate news restrict the diversity of content that users are exposed to by tailoring news diets toward the users’ preferences. In our empirical test of this argument, we apply a random-effects within–between model to two large representative datasets of individual web browsing histories. This approach allows us to better encapsulate the effects of social media and other intermediaries on news exposure. We find strong evidence that intermediaries foster more varied online news diets. The results call into question fears about the vanishing potential for incidental news exposure in digital media environments.

As for social networking sites, their users are represented as vertices of the social graph, and the relationship which indicates whether two users are friends in the social networking site are represented as edges of the social graph.
