Effects of Client Pressure and Audit Firm Management Control Systems on Auditor Judgments

We examine the effects of pressures from client management and the audit firm’s own management control systems (MCS) on auditors’ willingness to accept an aggressive accounting that is preferred by client management. We find that auditors perceiving more pressure from client management to accept the client’s aggressive accounting react by increasing the size of the proposed adjustment needed to bring the client’s accounting into conformity with GAAP. Corporate governance and determinants that explain CEO compensation in Indonesia

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2011 This thesis examines determinants that can help explain CEO remuneration in an Asian emerging market, focusing on Indonesia. Our sample consists of 46 Indonesian stock listed companies, and we use data from recently expanded rules on disclosure to analyze the level and structure of compensation for the CEO - domestically known as the president director. Looking at corporate governance arrangements, firm performance, and CEO characteristics, our empirical evidence reveals a significant positive relationship between firm size and CEO pay. Determinants of CEO compensation in Pakistan from 2007 to 2009

This paper examines the relationship between firm size, firm performance and board composition on CEO compensation, in the context of an emerging and developing economy of Pakistan. Data for 83 listed firms from Lahore stock exchange, Pakistan has been used for 2007 to 2009. The findings show that firm size is one of the major determining factors of CEO compensation rather than performance. Fast Algorithms for Pseudoarboricity

The densest subgraph problem, which asks for a subgraph with the maximum edges-to-vertices ratio d∗, is solvable in polynomial time. We discuss algorithms for this problem and the computation of a graph orientation with the lowest maximum indegree, which is equal to ⌈d∗⌉. This value also equals the pseudoarboricity of the graph. We show that it can be computed in O(|E| √ log log d∗) time, and that better estimates can be given for graph classes where d∗ satisfies certain asymptotic bounds. Protein-protein interaction network querying by a "focus and zoom" approach

We propose an approach to network querying in protein-protein interaction networks based on bipartite graph weighted matching. An algorithm is presented that first “focuses” the potentially relevant portion of the target graph by performing a global alignment of this one with the query graph, and then “zooms” on the actual matching nodes by considering their topological arrangement, hereby obtaining a (possibly) approximated occurrence of the query graph within the target graph. Non-periodic Polynomial Splines

In this chapter, we outline the essentials of the splines theory. By themselves, they are of interest for signal processing research. We use the Zak transform to derive an integral representation of polynomial splines on uniform grids. The integral representation facilitated design of different generators of spline spaces and their duals. It provides explicit expressions for interpolating and smoothing splines of any order. In forthcoming chapters, the integral representation of splines will be used for the constructions of efficient subdivision schemes and so also for the design spline-based wavelets and wavelet frames.
