Local cubic splines on non-uniform grids and real-time computation of wavelet transform

In this paper, local cubic quasi-interpolating splines on non-uniform grids are described. The splines are designed by fast computational algorithms that utilize the relation between splines and cubic interpolation polynomials. These splines provide an efficient tool for real-time signal processing. As an input, the splines use either clean or noised arbitrarily-spaced samples. Formulas for the spline’s extrapolation beyond the sampling interval are established. Sharp estimations of the approximation errors are presented. Mappings of finite distortion between metric measure spaces

We establish the basic analytic properties of mappings of finite distortion between proper Ahlfors regular metric measure spaces that support a ( 1 , 1 ) (1,1) -Poincaré inequality. As applications, we prove that under certain integrability assumption for the distortion function, the branch set of a mapping of finite distortion between generalized n n -manifolds of type A A has zero Hausdorff n n -measure.

Music Piracy Neutralization and the Youth of the 2010's

In this qualitative research, music piracy among the youth was studied by applying Sykes’ and Matza’s neutralization theory. The key objective of the study was to find out how youths view music piracy, and how they give accounts for it using techniques of neutralization. According to the conducted semi-structured interviews, youths do acknowledge the ethical and economic problems of music piracy. However, piracy is still exercised, and in order to justify this, multiple neutralization techniques are used. Both legal and illegal forms of digital music consumption continue to evolve with wider adoption of subscription streaming services. With this paper, we aim to extend theory on digital music piracy by showing that the rising controversy and diminishing acceptance of illegal forms of consumption call for new theoretical components and interactions.
