Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of two different training programs on strength and power performance and serum hormone concentrations. A total of 104 male soldiers volunteered and took part in the 12‐week training period with baseline, mid‐, and post‐measurements of body composition, muscle strength, lower and upper body power, and blood samples to determine serum hormone concentrations. The mean (±SD) age of subjects was 20 ± 1 years, height 180 ± 6 cm and body mass 72.4 ± 8.8 kg. Abstract Introduction Optimal diet together with good physical fitness maintains readiness and military performance during longer deployments. The purpose of this study was to describe changes in dietary macronutrient and energy intake, total physical activity and body composition during a 6-month deployment in South Lebanon. Furthermore, associations of diet macronutrient intake and physical activity on body composition were also studied. Militārā joma vēsturiski un sociāli tiek definēta kā tradicionāli vīrišķīga – tā ir, iespējams, viena no arhetipiski vīrišķīgākajām sociālajām struktūrām Rietumu sabiedrībā (Segal 1995). Taču militārajā dienestā un karadarbībā tik un tā sastopamas arī sievietes. Šajā bakalaura darbā pētīta 23 sieviešu pieredze, kuras visas dienē vai dienējušas Kanādas Bruņotajos spēkos (KBS) pēdējo četrdesmit gadu laikā. Šo sieviešu pieredze apkopota daļēji strukturētās intervijās, kas veiktas gan klātienē, gan rakstiskā formātā. Background Bone stress fractures are overuse injuries commonly encountered in sports and military medicine. Some fatigue fractures lead to morbidity and loss of active, physically-demanding training days. We evaluated the incidence, anatomical location, risk factors, and preventive measures for fatigue fractures in young Finnish male conscripts. Methods Five cohorts of 1000 men performing military service, classified according to birth year (1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989), were analysed.
