Expanding the Variety of Zirconium‐based Inorganic Building Units for Metal–Organic Frameworks

Two new zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks with the composition [Zr6 O4 (OH)4 (OAc)6 (BDC)3 ] (CAU-26) and [Zr5 O4 (OH)4 (OAc)4 (BDC)2 ] (CAU-27) are reported, which were synthesized from acetic acid, a rarely utilized but green and sustainable solvent (BDC2- : 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate). Structure determination aided by automated electron diffraction tomography revealed that CAU-26 is composed of layers of well-known {Zr6 O8 } clusters interconnected by terephthalate ions. Electrochemical nitration with nitrite

Aromatic nitration has tremendous importance in organic chemistry as nitroaromatic compounds serve as versatile building blocks. This study represents the electrochemical aromatic nitration with NBu4 NO2 , which serves a dual role as supporting electrolyte and as a safe, readily available, and easy-to-handle nitro source. Stoichiometric amounts of 1,1,1-3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropan-2-ol (HFIP) in MeCN significantly increase the yield by solvent control. Undecylenic acid: A tunable bio-based synthon for materials applications

Limited fossil resources require innovative monomers and polymers derived from renewable feedstocks such as plant biomass. Thermosetting epoxy resins largely rely on petrochemical bisphenol-type monomers, which give high performance materials but are controversial due to their effects on human health. Solvent impact on the planarity and aromaticity of free and monohydrated zinc phthalocyanine: a theoretical study

A theoretical investigation on the planarity of molecular structure of zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) and its aromaticity has been performed using B3LYP and M06-2X density functionals combined with selected Pople-type basis sets. The effect of the applied calculation method on the optimized structure of ZnPc and ZnPc∙∙∙H2O, both in the gas phase and in the polar solvent, was analyzed. On Lp resolvent estimates for Laplace–Beltrami operators on compact manifolds

In this article we prove Lp estimates for resolvents of Laplace–Beltrami operators on compact Riemannian manifolds, generalizing results of Kenig, Ruiz and Sogge (1987) in the Euclidean case and Shen (2001) for the torus. We follow Sogge (1988) and construct Hadamard's parametrix, then use classical boundedness results on integral operators with oscillatory kernels related to the Carleson and Sjölin condition. Breathing molecular crystals: halogen- and hydrogen-bonded porous molecular crystals with solvent induced adaptation of the nanosized channels

Exceptionally strong (OC–)2N–I⋯N halogen bonding (XB) in a combination with CO⋯H–C hydrogen bonds (HB) between N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) and hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) yielded a series of molecular crystals possessing large 1D channels. In each structure, HMTA was tetra-coordinated by four NIS molecules resulting in robust [HMTA]·[NIS]4 complexes where the observed I⋯N distances, ranging from 2.486 to 2.586 A, were remarkable shorter (from 29.6 to 26.7%) than the sum of the vdW radii of nitrogen and iodine atoms.
