Development of immunoaffinity columns for pyraclostrobin extraction from fruit juices and analysis by liquid chromatography with UV detection

2010

Abstract Pyraclostrobin belongs to a new generation of fungicides widely used to preserve high valuable crops. In the present study, three monoclonal antibodies with different affinities to this modern strobilurin have been evaluated for their usefulness in the production of immunoaffinity columns suitable for the solid-phase extraction, concentration, and clean-up of residues from food commodities. Different immunosorbents were produced and characterized in terms of antibody immobilization efficiency, immunosorbent binding capacity, optimum elution conditions, and reusability. Covalent coupling of the antibodies to Sepharose–CNBr gel took place with high yield (over 90%), whereas the immun…

Analytical Methods for the Determination of Perfume-related Substances.

2014

Evaluation of sampling adsorbents and validation of a LC-HRMS method for determination of 28 airborne pesticides

2018

A new strategy for sampling, using a low-volume sampler, and determination of airborne pesticides by liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS) has been developed. The trapping efficiency of three adsorbents (sandwich PUF-XAD2-PUF; XAD-2 and XAD-4) was tested for 33 currently used pesticides and the first adsorbent (PUF-XAD2-PUF) was selected because it presented the highest retention capacity without breakthrough. Selected PUF-XAD2-PUF had the following design: 5 g of Amberlite XAD-2 sandwiched between two cylinders of PUF (6.87 cm(3), height: 1.4 cm, diameter: 2.5 cm). A validation of the analytical methodology that includes microwave extraction with e…

Ceramic foam supported active materials for boron remediation in water

2015

Due to the narrowrange between boron necessities and toxicity in the environment, there is a high interest in the design of effective boron remediation procedures. We have previously reported a promising boron adsorptionmaterial based on the affinity of boron aqueous species for cis-diol groups that were anchored on differentmesoporous silica matrices. However, the small particle size of these systemsmakes themdifficult to be applied on real remediation situations. In this context we report herein a novel systemfor boron adsorption fromaqueous solutions inwhich the high boron affinity for functionalized mesoporousmaterials is combined with themechanical properties of ceramic foams as macrosc…

On mathematical modelling of the solid-liquid mixtures transport in porous axial-symmetrical container with Henry and Langmuir sorption kinetics

2018

In this paper we study diffusion and convection filtration problem of one substance through the pores of a porous material which may absorb and immobilize some of the diffusing substances. As an example we consider round cylinder with filtration process in the axial direction. The cylinder is filled with sorbent i.e. absorbent material that passed through dirty water or liquid solutions. We can derive the system of two partial differential equations (PDEs), one expressing the rate of change of concentration of water in the pores of the sorbent and the other - the rate of change of concentration in the sorbent or kinetical equation for absorption. The approximation of corresponding initial b…

Development of iron oxide/activated carbon nanoparticle composite for the removal of Cr(VI), Cu(II) and Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution

2018

Iron oxide (Fe3O4) and iron oxide/activated carbon (Fe3O4/AC) were fabricated by co-precipitation method for the removal of Cr(VI), Cu(II) and Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution in batch mode. These nanoparticles were characterized by BET, FTIR, XRD, SEM/TEM and VSM. The optimum conditions for the removal of ions were pH = 2 for Cr(VI) and 6 for Cu(II) and Cd(II), initial metal ion concentration = 50 mg L−1, nanoparticle dose = 50 mg/10 mL, temperature = 25 ± 1 °C, shaking speed = 180 rpm and contact time = 3 h. The equilibrium data of ions sorption were well described by Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson and Intraparticle Diffusion model. The R2 values obtained by Langmuir model were h…

Innovations in Extractive Phases for In-Tube Solid-Phase Microextraction Coupled to Miniaturized Liquid Chromatography: A Critical Review

2020

Over the past years, a great effort has been devoted to the development of new sorbents that can be used to pack or to coat extractive capillaries for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME). Many of those efforts have been focused on the preparation of capillaries for miniaturized liquid chromatography (LC) due to the reduced availability of capillary columns with appropriate dimensions for this kind of system. Moreover, many of the extractive capillaries that have been used for IT-SPME so far are segments of open columns from the gas chromatography (GC) field, but the phase nature and dimensions are very limited. In particular, polar compounds barely interact with stationary GC phas…

Sulfidation Mechanism of Pure and Cu-Doped ZnO Nanoparticles at Moderate Temperature: TEM and In Situ XRD Studies

2012

International audience; Sulfidation mechanism of pure and Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles (Cu0.03Zn0.97O and Cu0.06Zn0.94O) at 250 and 350 degrees C was studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and in situ synchrotron XRD. For nondoped ZnO, we observed by TEM that partial reaction with H2S is accompanied by the formation of voids at the ZnO/ZnS interface. This phenomenon (known as the Kirkendall effect) confirms that sulfidation of nanosized ZnO by gaseous H2S proceeds via the outward growth of ZnS: Zn2+ and O2- are transferred to the external (ZnS/gas) surface, where zinc is combined with sulfur and oxygen reacts with protons yielding H2O. During sulfidation of Cu-doped ZnO, the caviti…

Smart Sorption Materials in Green Analytical Chemistry

2019

The use of smart materials as alternative sorption materials for their use in greening sample preparation has been reviewed. It has been taking into consideration recent advances on the use of natural products, without any modification or purification, for making analyte extraction and pre-concentration and the use of specific materials in solid-phase extraction (SPE) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) approaches. Inorganic materials, such as metal oxides, alumina-based, silica-based, and carbon-based materials together with biomimetic sorbents such as classical immunosorbents, aptamers, and molecularly imprinted polymers, have been reviewed as examples of these materials, stressing the…
