Rotational effects on the oscillation frequencies of newly born proto-neutron stars

2003

In this paper we study the effects of rotation on the frequencies of the quasi-normal modes of a proto-neutron star (PNS) born in a gravitational collapse during the first minute of life. Our analysis starts a few tenths of seconds after the PNS formation, when the stellar evolution can be described by a sequence of equilibrium configurations. We use the evolutionary models developed by Pons et al. (1999; 2001) that describe how a non rotating star cools down and contracts while neutrino diffusion and thermalization processes dominate the stellar dynamics. For assigned values of the evolution time, we set the star into slow rotation and integrate the equations of stellar perturbations in th…

Quantum aspects originated by Gravitation: from cosmology to astrophysics

2018

Políticas de aparición/desaparición (The Politics of Appearance/Disappearance)

2019

2022

The present social and environmental challenges, the impact of climate change and the pandemic, revealed the urgency and the opportunity to rethink urban design through its renewed spaces and temporalities. The pandemic offered a ‘natural experiment’ to explore and develop new perspectives, making public spaces more resilient. Contributing towards a rethink of these spaces, the present paper explores adaptive architecture with responsive technologies and their capability of shaping public spaces to constitute a conversation piece with the surrounding environment. This approach combines and reflects different disciplinary fields: architecture, civic interaction and urban design. The explorat…

Operators in Rigged Hilbert Spaces, Gel’fand Bases and Generalized Eigenvalues

2022

Given a self-adjoint operator A in a Hilbert space H, we analyze its spectral behavior when it is expressed in terms of generalized eigenvectors. Using the formalism of Gel’fand distribution bases, we explore the conditions for the generalized eigenspaces to be one-dimensional, i.e., for A to have a simple spectrum.

Modes of Religiosity in Iberian Iron Age Caves: Religious Behaviour and Sensorial Experience

2021

The Iberian Iron Age caves are defined as a specific model of sacred space. First, from a territorial perspective, they are identified as liminal spaces where the collective participation, integration and the sense of belonging is reinforced. And secondly, as multisensory contexts, where different ritual practices, highly symbolised, are performed. These spheres, cut off from the well-known and daily scenarios boost the sensory hypersensitivity, strengthened by the connection between the senses and the natural scenario. This paper is guided by the theory of religiosity modes, developed by H. Whitehouse, with the purpose of a better understanding of the ritual practices that were carried out…

Sabratha. La catacomba e le aree funerarie cristiane

2016

This paper starts from the processing of the data, both edited and acquired in 2010 by a series of dedicated surveys in Sabratha made by researchers at the University of Palermo, in collaboration whit the cnr itabc for the prin 2008 Project, carried out under the responsibility of Prof. Rosa Maria Carra Bonacasa. The researchers have made a preliminary study for an archaeological gis of Sabratha to gather informations on the monuments already studied, or under study, and to promote analysis regarding the riuse of space in the Regiones iii-v of Sabratha, after the destruction attribuited to the earthquake on 21th July 365. We present the results of the study on the Early Christian funerary a…

Is it possible to understand a book missing a quarter of the letters? Unveiling the belowground species richness of grasslands

2022

Abstract Knowledge of species richness patterns in plant communities is biased toward its hidden belowground part and is derived only from the part visible aboveground. Studies on the relationship of the above- to belowground parts of plant communities suffer from the lack of a consistent and uniform approach to assess their taxonomic composition, particularly in species-rich ecosystems. This study described the proportion between above- and belowground parts of vegetation in three grassland types along with the environmental factors that affect them, using eDNA metabarcoding and an observer survey. The internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region was used to analyze the total plant richness…
